Once you get it started and warmed up, do a timing check with a timing light. It sounds to me like the timing is too far advanced and that causes the backfire when trying to start but will run fine when warm. Over-advance can cause pre-detonation at the plug and can burn a hole in the top of your piston, even though it runs fine. Reset your timing.

Hi Fiat palio 1.2mpi car backfire on crank but start what can it be please can Anyone help

Backfires usually caused either by timing or spark jumping issue, or, lean fuel mix. Might try starting at night with helper cranking and you look under hood (dark) for stray spark. Lean could be several things--coolant sensor, IAC stuck, bad converter or muffler, vacuum leaks, even leaking injector allowing excess fuel to drip into cylinder (I know, I said lean, but this can do it also)

Backfire mgb not starting?

Backfire when trying to start a motor is associated with rich running, (too much fuel or unburnt fuel), retarded timing, carbon arcs in the distributor cap, intermittent dirty points, spark plug wires out of order and jumped or skipped timing chains.

Backfires when trying to start

Timing chain jumped a tooth of the gear for the timing chain, or the belt jumped, either way same result...

AWESOME a real camaro problem.
strong odor of gas because the gas isn't getting burned
caused from backfire. backfiring because the spark isnt sparking when its supposed to.
problems could be bad spark plug wires , bad plugs , bad ignition parts.
your gonna need to check wires for bad spots, check ignition coils and stuff like that. if all that stuff is ok, then your problems have to do with inside the engine. jumped time etc.

My car is a 1991 olds cutlass supreme.. my car started acting up on Saturday - I got gas, and I tried to start it, it wouldn't catch-- it would turn over, but wouldn't start. the car made a backfiring...

Check timing chain. Shoot a timing light at the marks on the crank, and see if they are jumping around or staying in one place. If theyre jumping a lot, the chain has jumped. If there is no light flashing at all, it may be broken, or coil, or etc. Check those first.

Car backfires hesitates when depressing gas pedal

Check the vacum lines going to the distributor and transmission. If they are leaking it could be your problem.
