Service 4 wheel drive message comes on and no lights for 2and 4 wheel drive come on. On my 2004 gmc

Often lights under a dash or indicators just blow out bulbs. If more than one thing isn't lighting and are centralized check fuses to see if its blown. Bulb or fuse. IMHO. MIGHT be a sensor on tranny too. Hope not.

Here's a video with detaile dinstrauctions and other people's fuse questions. New fuses?

Heater on my envoy only works on 3-4 setting, could that be the switch.

Thanks for the opportunity to let me help. The blower control switch in your vehicle also uses a blower relay. This relay is generally located on the firewall on the passenger side near the heater fan. You can also look in you vehicle owners manual for the location of the blower relay, it may be also be located in the fuse and relay box under the hood. Generally speaking if the highest setting doesn't work on a GM vehicle it is a high blower Relay. This item is not expensive and can be purchased at most all you local Auto parts stores. If you have a Napa, Orielly's, or AutoZone these stores will also likely help you in the location if you are unable to locate this relay. Here is a general picturepepsiman1967.jpg The installation of this relay is either to remove from the fuse box, or if located near the heater fan housing then you will need to remove the mounting screws, remove the wiring clip, then reverse to install. I hope that this has helped you. D.R. Wilkins

On my 2004 gmc sierra the blower motor will stay on with the key out. is it the resistor or a reley. how to find it

This is definitely the Relay which is part of the Blower Motor Resistor Module. The Engineers designed it to FAIL when the Return Spring breaks. The Relay Contact is only utilized for the Highest Speed, The armature (Movable Contact) makes connection due to gravity when the Spring Fails. The Relay is mounted UPSIDE DOWN and was designed into the module that way. It is not independently serviceable!

Take it from me as my 2004 Silverado has gone through 3 Resistor Modules and 1 Blower Motor. Michigan winters are relatively cold!

Blower motor continues to run when vehicle is off

Your problem is the Relay which is encased inside the Heater/AC Resistor Module. This is a very common problem with GMC and Chevy Trucks. The Relay's return spring fails and the relay is held closed by gravity. The only fix is to replace the Resistor Module. I have a 2004 Silverado and have replaced the Module 3 times and the Blower Motor twice. The Orange wire feeding the Module is always Hot (12V) and feeds the Relay Contact for Highest Blower Speed. Hence the Blower runs all the time even with the Key off and removed.

1998 gmc 2500 heater swith only work on high

Most likely cause is the blower motor resistor. If you remove the glove box (4 screws, two on each side), the resistor is located behind the 4 relays. Two screws hold it in place. rmeove screws and pull it up and out of the HVAC case.

There is a resistor attached to the blower box. Replace the blower resistor and this should solve your problem
