Power steering stopped working but has steering

can you look and see if the belt that turns the power steering pump broke or is slipping or quit pumping or if the rack and pinion is conking out. it is 1 or the other . pump and a rack & pinion they both have to work to get power steering.

How do i change the power steering fluid

I prefer to remove the fluid with a suction gun, do this 3 or 4 times running the engine between sucking out the fluid and refilling until the fluid is clear, ps fluid is cheap and this takes about two bottles in most cases..

I do not have a pdf map of the emmisions (this should be on a sticker under the hood) but it sounds like a EGR or exhaust gas recirculation hose to me.

2003 BMW 325I Power Steering

when looking at the engine with the hood up, look to the right hand side for something that looks like this (#1 in the pic):

it will be black in color, but don't confuse it with the oil filter housing. power steering reservoir will have a unique cap (#2 in the pic) that can be removed with your hand. the one that has the large nut on top is the oil filter. remove the cap and put in the correct fluid.

hope this helped.
