Question about 2004 Nissan Quest
Door was stuck closed, now it's open but won't close. IT seems like the rear catch is stuck in the position it would be in if door was closed.
Check mechanism on working doors. In my car if I move the catch on the door(click it like in closed position)like it was closed, then when I open the handle it releases open;this shows me closing/opening. Spray penetrating fluid on the metal/mechanism,possibly rusty and prevents smooth actions. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: my locked door won't open
I have a 2005 Xterra and the same thing started happening to me on an intermitent basis. The dealership eventually replaced the guts of the door release equipment under warrenty but that was after 3 trips to the dealership.
Now my rear hatch won't open. My theory is that after an total repaint (hail) in the summer of 2006 the body shop made something out of wack with these door mechanisms.

Mine was doing the same thing. I took it in and watched them fix it and first they steam cleaned the area under the floor where the rollers are. Then they took a spray and lubricated the rollers and the track where the rollers are. then they cleaned the brass connectors on the side of the door where the safety pins touch. I could have saved ALOT of money doing this myself. I hope this helps!

It is likely the window motor is wearing out and will need to be replaced. You can always try a different switch on those wires to rule out switch problem. Otherwise, the motor will have to be replaced.

go inside, lift on handle, then beat the **** out of the door pounding it like your trapped in it trying to get out. latch mechanism is probably corroded and froze shut. once open, spray with wd40 and work the lever a lot. then get door panel off to see if handle is broken inside

Either it has rusted up or the mechcanisim has been bent, take door panel off check it out if rusted use some wd40 work lock untill it moves.
