Don't run the engine with this fault, hopefully it is a fault with the pressure switch. However if it is the oil pump not delivering enough oil to the crank and cams, irreversible damage may be done to the engine. First things first is there plenty of oil in the sump? You could just change the oil pressure switch to see if that cures the fault. The oil pressure should be checked with a pressure gauge to be 100 per cent sure.

I have KIA sorento 2.5 diesel 2009 model and it was overhaul engine and now the the oil lump keeps on flicking when reducing speed or idling after getting warm, What could be the problem

Remove the oil sender unit, fit a oil pressure gauge , start the engine and read the oil pressure at idle engine hot, must read above 10 psi and needle not flicking, must increase with engine speed , if pressure is ok replace censer, if not check oil pump screen and relief vale spring, can also be caused by crankshaft bearings clearance .

How to check if oil pump is bad on 03 kia sorento

Hi Rodney. Can you tell me what makes you think the oil pump might be faulty. Is your motor noisy at idle ? How often is the car serviced ? Do you know what grade of oil has been used ? Do you have a "check engine" light on the dash ?
If you can fill me in with a few more details I'll be more than happy to help you :)
Cheers Peter Smith

Engine oil lamp some times blinks comes on and later when restart it does not come I have Kia Sorento 2009

The oil light will come on when ever pressure is low it ct can be as little as the oil pressure sensor is going out or you may have a blockage somewhere in the oil system try doing an oil change with mobile1 oil this may help if there is a small blockage but defiantly get the sensor checked first

Where is the oil pump on kia sorento 2004 2.5 diesel?

It could be in the sump, find the filter where it screws on and that will give you an idea, first check the oil pressure as it might be only a faulty switch, cheers hope this helps. If the oil pressure is low then it will be main bearings.
