Question about 2005 Toyota Highlander

Toyota highlander window opens by itself

My mother-in-law's driver side power window sometimes will randomly open by itself. She said it sometimes happens while she is driving and sometimes she will return to the car in a parking lot to find that it opened while the car was parked. She is able to put the window back up when this happens but it is a security problem and I am afraid she is going to get something stolen when this happens. Any idea how to fix this?

Yes sorry - she is able to raise the window normally when this happens, and she's able to raise and lower the window normally all the time. The only malfunction is when it will sometimes randomly lower on its own

Barry, It sure sounds like a short in wiring going to the window motor. If you have a schematic and know how to check for shorts you might find it; otherwise, you need to get help from a trusted repair shop or a local dealer. Good luck.

You don't mention HOW she "puts the window back up" - does the power window work OK when raising or lowering the window.
There may a short circuit causing the window motor to turn on.
Let me know if the window operates normally sometimes; and whatever information or description you might have.

SOURCE: Car moves backwards in "Park"

can be that the cable for your shifter lever needs to be adjusted in the engine bay on the transmission itself. it may be that when you shift it into park the lever doesn't reach far into the park position hence would still be in reverse and then when it bucks thats when the time it slips into park.

The back driver side window is down and will not come up. The child safety lock is off. Can a fuse be responsible for one window? You mentioned a bar on the window that will keep the window open

Start the vehicle, hit the up button on that door JUST AS you give the door a hard WHACK.It may take more than one try but the window should go back up.

My 2005 toyota highlander power windows for one of the back doors has stoppped working. It went down but now is not coming up.

If all your other windows are working it must be a loose connector at the power window regulator. You have to remove the door trim and check the connector. If there is a water leak it could have cause damage to the window regulator itself or cause corrosion in the connector

With the rear windows down my Highlander vibrates heavily.

Inspect the universal joint. See if the driveshaft has any play in it. This could also be caused by a bad, dry, or damaged wheel bearing. Those items can be fixed. Hope this helped.

My Toyota Camry 2006, the rear left power window behind the driver's side, does not open. I tried to open it using both driver's control and the rear door control. Nothing works. I assume the motor is...

Simple things first, check the dedicated fuse for that window specifcally. if it's ok then check for ground and power at the regulator motor itself. If you have power and ground then it is the motor.

RF power window not working properly on 2001 toyota highlander

There should be a relay. Probably located in the PDU box under the hood. If not the motor might be going bad.
