Question about 2001 Kia Sportage
The lighter socket is smaller than standard, I am unable to plug my GPS into it. Is there an adapter available to suit my needs???
The lighter socket will be straight 12 volts and the GPS may require less (5.5 volts) and the different size is to prevent the over voltage and damaging the GPS unit. There may be an adaptor that will do the job and it may have a built- in transformer for the purpose.

Your best bet is to check on eBay for an adapter - the Asians make all sorts of stuff for cars now & i'm sure there is an adapter out there suited for your purposes. P.S. It may sound silly but are you sure you are using the actual cigarette lighter socket & Not a power outlet socket that many cars are now fitted with as standard?, my phone charger fits the cigarette socket but not the power outlet?, you never know?
