The engine light comes on. It shows a code of P2716 Pressure Control Solenoid - D - Electrical. What is this and is it okay to drive it for 6 days until I can get it to a dealer?

Thank You for your help.... Yes it does shift pretty hard. I feel some relief knowing it's a replaceable part and not the whole transmission.
    Thank You very much.

This code is caused by a problem in the engine/transmission control module, a new part has been released by Toyota to repair it, it may be coered under warranty. as to driving it, yes that is not a problem, u may experience a harsh trans shift that is about all.

Right now my car has a problem with the p2716 code

Unfortunately a P2716 code is a code for the pressure control solenoid inside the automatic transaxle, my suggestion to you is to take it to your local Toyota dealer where they will be able to monitor the shift solenoids within the transaxle.

Hope this helps....

I need to replace the pressure control cylinder in my 2005 Toyota Corolla LE.....How expensive is this to do ?

Hello. Welcome to FixYa Please allow us to assist you.

Regarding the Pressure Control Cylinder, we would recommend that you do not replace it; as there is really nothing wrong with it. The code you are seeing, P-2716, does indicate a "fault" with the solenoid, but the main issue is the car's computer, not the solenoid.

What you need to do is take your car to a Toyota dealer.
There is a Technical Service Bulletin that addresses this issue.

The recommended fix is a replacement of the engine control unit (the computer). This service will be performed at no charge to you, if your car has less than 80,000 miles on it.
Get the computer replaced, and your problem will disappear.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance today.

Engine light on...P2716 diagnostic code...pressure, control solenoid..D this a recall problem

Hello. Welcome to FixYa.

No, the P-2716 DTC is not a recall.
It is a software issue that results in a 'false code' being generated.

What Toyota is doing is replacing your computer with an updated unit; the programming in the current computer needs to be changed, and the Corolla computer you have cannot be 'reflashed', it must be physically changed out.

If you car has less than 80,000 miles on it, the replacment will be free.
Get in touch with your local toyota dealership, and they will get you a new computer.

As you stated they will replace the pressure control solenoid by technical service bulletin. Is there a mileage cut off for when they will not replace the Pressure Control Solenoid on the 06 corrolla for...

If you are referring to a P-2716 code, no, they will not replace the PCS; what you need is a new computer.

It will be replaced for free, if your car has less than 80K miles on it. That is the mileage limitation.

The PCS is not the issue, the programming is the issue, but, the computer in your car cannot be 'reflashed'; Toyota will replace it.

In short, replacing the PCS will not rectify your issue. Again, it is a software issue, not a mechanical issue.

Where is this solenoid located

Hello. You do not need a solenoid with a P-2716 code.

You need a new computer.

Toyota is aware of this, and the new computer fixes the issue.

If your car has les than 80,000 miles on it, the replacement will be free.

Code P2717 Pressure control solenoid on Corolla 06 LE

Hello. Welcome to FixYa. Please allow us to assist you...

YES! The P-2716 code IS a common problem.

I am glad that you did not pay for the repair, because the repair is a new computer.

Fortunatly for you, there is a technical service bulleting from Toyota; they will replace it for FREE!

Call your nearest Toyota dealership, tell them you have a P-2716, and make an appointment. They will replace the Electronic Control Unit (the computer) at no charge.

The part is roughly 950 dollars.

Pressure control solenoid "D" electrical

Is the check engine light on? Does it have a P-2716 code displayed on a scan tool? If so, you need a electronic control unit (the computer), AND, it will be replaced free by your Toyota dealer if the vehicle is under 80,000 miles.

Pressure Control Solenoid "D" Electrical

You need to take it to a reputable repair facility. The pressure control solenoid needs to be checked for proper operation. If the solenoid is operating properly, the PCM (Powertrain Control Module[computer]) will need to be replaced. If you continue to drive the vehicle with this condition the transmission will eventually destroy itself.
