Sounds like it would be the english equivalent to a service light. I would have a mechanic look at it and scan the ECU.

Kia sportage 1998 engine light on

check the alternator drive belt for condition and tension. Have the out put of the alternator checked . have a load test done on the battery as you may be trying to charge a dead cell.. The indications are that the alternator cannot keep up with the demand on the electrical system and that means battery or alternator.

99 Elantra suddenly died

I'm not sure of this, but my friend experienced similar situation.
He had a Kia Pride used for Taxi cab. He have replaced damaged parts, replaced freon for his aircon and overhauled the engine. The cab really runs smoothly and in good condition.
But from time to time, the engine stops. Just like you, everything is normal, but stops unexpectedly. We even have it checked from my friend mechanic and said that everything is normal. He gave up the car and he loosed around PhP50,000.00 at that time (enough to pay rent for a year. He later found out that the car runs OK again...
THE NEW OWNER HAVE THE WIRING AND ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS RENEWED!
And a car owner claims for the same problem, I said its ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS, it should be replaced. When she have it fixed, the mechanic have her car's wiring replaced. And it runs smoothly again.
Please try...

Will I be able to drive my car down the road if my alternator is bad? My battery went dead, jumped it and drove it for 30 min. Didn't stall out. Is my battery bad or alternator? I read your car will...

Yes, your car's engine will cut out if there is no electricity being (ultimately) supplied to the spark plugs..
You could have a bad ground, loose connection, or bad alternator.
Carefully inspect all connections - even the ones on the starter, ground at the frame, battery terminals, and connection on the alternator and the other end of the wires coming from the alternator.
Typically most parts stores will test your alternator for free, while it is still on the car. Call ahead to be sure.
Best regards

My car keeps going dead, purchase a new battery yesterday the brake light and battery light is on will thuis cause car to go dead

YES! You have described a "NO CHARGING SYSTEM VOLTAGE' condition. You should have at least 14 to 14.5 volts at the battery with the engine running. If you don't, there are several possible causes:

1. Blown alternator fuse
2. Electrical cable between alternator & battery is broken or disconnected.
3. Alternator is not working/charging (voltage regulator inside the alternator).
4. Regulator at the alternator is disconnected or an open circuit exists between the alternator's regulator & underhood fuse box.

One quick way to verify "NO CHARGING SYSTEM VOLTAGE" is to start the engine and while it's running, disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable. The moment you disconnect the cable, the engine will die. If it doesn't, you have a completely different problem -- the battery is dying over-night because there is an electrical drain on the battery after the key is turned off and removed.

If that's the case, and unless you know a good electrician, take it to an authorized Hyundai Service Center and have it properly diagnosed -- best advice I can give you without looking at the vehicle myhself.

You can gain access to Hyundai shop manuals and wiring diagrams by going to www.hmaservice.com and register using the Vehicle's VIN #.

Hope this helps.

Ford tdci 2.4 diesel engine as fitted to 1994 LTI TX2 taxi. Constantly replacing timing chain and tensioner. Five replacement chains and tensioners in 140,000 miles. Engine is serviced every 6000 miles....

cant help the only ford 2.4 engine diesel i know of is the york engine and that has a timing belt not a chain.Sounds like you could be a bit fastidious because all timing chains show wear on the tensioner, causing a bit of a rattle but unlike a belt it will not break just get a bit noisey, answer to that is to turn the radio up a bit

I have a 2000 Ford Windstar. While driving the other day I lost all electrical power. Nothing would work and engine cut off. After sitting for a brief time the van cranked back up and I drove it home. ...

Most probably...a loose electrical connection. Since you mentioned that the electrical power and the engine got cut off and after sitting for a brief of time, the van cranked back up. You need to check the wiring to see if there's any loose connection.

Here, I provided you the link where you can download the wiring diagram for your 2000 Ford Windstar:

This diagram (manual) will help you trace the problem.

Have a great day!
