Anon, Trouble code P0191, You may need a good tech. with scan tool to read and test system.
  • Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance,computer see's signal from the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor and/or its circuit is sending erratic readings, indicating a fuel pressure condition that is abnormal. Problems could be out of gas, leaking fuel, faulty fuel pressure sensor, bad wire or plug in circuit, fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pump could be faulty also. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Where is fuel rail pressure sensor high input located on a mercury mountaineer

If you are talking about a trouble code for the pressure sensor, the sensor may be telling the computer the fuel pressure is too high. The sensor is mounted in the fuel rail on the engine.

Car not starting

Fuel, spark and air. You are missing one of them you need to test for spark ,and fuel crank the engine then go to the fuel injector rail on the rail is a cap remove the cap and you will see a shrader valve just like your tire valve stem use a pointy object like a screw driver and press does fuel come out if it just dribble out well you need to test for fuel pressure. Better yet have someone crank the vehicle and you should be able to hear the fuel pump get activated you you do trouble shoot for spark. Your system uses a crank sensor it that crank sensor fails you get no spark. or even the ignition module may have failed pull one of the plug wires let it touch body ground about 1/4 inches away have some one crank it you should see spark jump out. if you dont troubleshoot for no spark condition

Hello My engine service light is on and when I checked the trouble code I get P0193. I know it's fuel related but I am not having any problems my car seems to be running fine.

Fuel rail sensor. You should get it replaced. You can do it yourself, not that hard. This will over time start giving you crappy fuel mileage. If it hasn't already. But first I would unplug it and plug it back in, clear the code and see if it comes back on.

How to replace the fuel temperature sensor

fuel temperature sensors are used on return-less fuel systems and are usually mounted on the fuel rail, although on some vehicles it is integrated into the fuel pump. Those mounted on the fuel rail are easily replaceable but those integrated into the fuel pump requires replacement of the entire fuel pump. If you are getting a diagnostic trouble code between P0180 and P0189 then you have a fuel temperature sensor problem which, if it is integrated into the fuel pump it will require replacement of the entire fuel pump. On return-less fuel systems the fuel temperature sensor sends fuel density data to the PCM and then with that and data from the fuel rail pressure sensor the PCM commands the fuel pump driver module to adjust voltage to the fuel pump sufficient to achieve the proper fuel pressure.

Service engine light on showing code p0089

Diagnostic trouble code P0089 - The ECM commands the Bosch high-pressure fuel pump to deliver a specific fuel rail pressure - that can vary up to 23,000 psi depending on load and speed. The actual pressure is monitored via the fuel rail pressure sensor. If the fuel rail pressure varies more than desired or if commanded fuel pump flow is 100mm3/second or less, DTC P0089 will set.

Corrective action includes measuring the fuel rail pressure using a Tech II scan tool, then compare that to commanded fuel rail pressure with the engine running at 2000 rpm. The difference must be less than 20 Mpa.

A blockage in the fuel tank or plugged fuel filter could cause this fault (excessive vacuum in fuel line). If there is less than 5 in Hg of vacuum when measured at the fuel pressure test port at 3000 rpm, the fuel pressure regulator could be defective, and may need to be replaced. The fuel pressure regulator (FPR) is a sub assembly located on the Bosch high-pressure fuel pump.
