SOURCE: Volvo 240 reverse lights don't work

Hi Sir

Checked the switch and plug? here's how :)

Yes it is the reverse light switch which is hooked up to your gearbox which needs to be replaced. Also it could be the plug going into this switch is a bit dirty or thorn (due to engine temperature and time wear) which in that case means that it needs to be fixed before replacing the switch.

Checking its actually the swtich so you don't buy it for nothing :)

Just to make sure that the circuitry is ok. Go to the gearbox (if it is front wheel drive transverse engine you wont need to go underneath) check where the gearbox and linkages are close to the revers there should be a switch n plug hooked up to it. Unplug it put in a piece of wire to short circuit both wires. Then turn the ignnition key on and if your circuitry is fine the lights should go on :) This means that its the switch for sure :) I hope that this helped your problem :)

SOURCE: Blows fuses when parking lights are turned on. Headlights work fine even running lights.

If it only happens when you turn the switchto the parking lights then it is most likely the swich that is the problem. Light swich failure appears to be a common fault with fords

No tai lights or dash lights in 2004 Scion xB fuses good no power at rear plugs. Brake and blinkers do work. So frustrated.

Did you look at a wiring diagram to see what all is involved in those circuit's ? The fuse is GOOD ? 10 amp tail lamp fuse is good , but is there Battery + voltage there ? With a volt meter or test light check for B+ voltage on both sides of the fuse . Both the dash and tail lights get B+ voltage from the head lamp switch . You can find a wiring diagram here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html How to Use Multimeter to Troubleshoot Common Problems

Check diagram of the fuse box, and replace the appropriate fuses. Usually you have a diagram under the bonnet next to the fuse box.
