Understand this is only a estimate, base on you have all the tools and parts. If this is your first, you are looking at approxmiately 8 hours. no include testing and readjust.

Fuel spider?

this is the fuel injection delivery system that GM used before they moved to the MPI (multi-port fuel Injection) this component is notorious for cracking, splitting, and the "pop-it" valve is known for leaking.
though there is a shimmer of light t the end of the tunnel. Often at times it is a piece of small debris stuck on the end of the pop-it valve and can some times be cleaned by using a tank of high octane fuel and STP octane booster. try that and changing the fuel filter if it hasn't been done in the last few years. If that does not clear up the no start it may be beyond simple "maintenance" and you might have to clean or replace the crab or spider injector. which are about $300-450 from the parts store, or dealership.

personally if you are pretty good with a wrench and can competently remove and replace an intake and air box then you should be able to remove the crab injector and clean out the pop-it valves. it looks a little like this:

1996 chevy suburban runs bad has new fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs wires cap rotor fuel regulator coolant temp sensor cleaned maf reman engine with 40k on it

Check if the spiders are bad... I May be off a year with application but if the spider was never replaced you are due. spider is the part that plugs into manifold to each intake runner for fuel injection, The plastic tubes get brittle and start to dribble. when one or more brake you get raw fuel not atomized fuel.

Truck wont start but spray a little ether in it and it will run until the ether is gone. I unhooked the fuel line on the fire wall and it only had gas come out of it when I cranked the motor over. I think...

When the key is first turned before cranking, the fuel pump comes on for a few seconds to prime the fuel system and bring it up to pressure and then shuts off. When you crank the engine, the fuel injectors start to function causing the fuel pressure to drop. So that's why the fuel pump kicks on while the engine is cranking and it will remain on until the ECM sees that everything is in working order and then commands the fuel pump to remain on until the ignition is turned off. Is this a 4.3L Vortec Engine? If so, the (CRAB) injection assembly under the intake is faulty. It looks more like a spider than anything else. Be sure that you have adequate amount of fuel pressure because the (Crab Injection System) won't work at all. If it's an eight cylinder, may need to use a injector noid light. It's a special design light that plugs into the injector harness connector and lights up in pulses when engine is cranked. If there is no light, trace and check all wires leading from injector harness to ECU. Hope This Helps.

Chevy suburban from 1996, just replaced fuel pump and now problem when starting cold engine. after car as run a few miles no more problems for the rest of the day. only cold car in the morning

Does it crank normally, just wont start? Not sure if we have a draw on the battery over night or if one or more injectors is bleeding down in to the combustion chamber of the cylinder causing a lack of fuel pressure and has washed out the cylinder. Pull the dipstick, see if it smells of gasoline. Need more info to assist.

I have a 99 Tahoe 5.7, the garage said it needs a new fuel injection spider. Do they also need to replace all the injectors with the spider?

with all 8 injectors in place the injector lines resemble a spider with legs.If one injector is bad the rest will soon fallow .
