From your description you have a blockage in the fuel pipe between the fuel tank and the primer bulb.

There could be just simple debris swishing at bottom of fuel tank that occasionally gets sucked into fuel pump without actually getting in to the system, starving the fuel supply. When the engine is off, the pump stops sucking fuel and the debris is released and just floats away until next time. That may mean flushing out the tank to clear the flotsam.

I have nissan np300 zd30 engine its nt supplying fuel t e engine,have t prime harder for it to starter n after starting,if l stop priming t wl cut off.what cld b e problem


?? depending on year ,,,it could have a lift fuel pump in the tank to prime it up for starting ,providing its a conventional injector pump which having a hand primer i would assume it has ,need more info really but do check the fuel lines on the top of the fuel tank as they could be perished so its sucking in air ...or the lift pump inside the injector pump has failed ,really need to see it to know the problem .

I have a1994 ford explorer and it wont stay started i change the fuel pump the crank the coil pack but it still wont stay started


I'm not familiar this vehicle, but hope this information is of some help, first of all is your vehicle diesel if so does it have a priming bulb inside the engine compartment if so is solid if your try to squeeze it if the answer is no get the ford stared dash to the compartment and pump the bulb till it's solid if that works until you manually stop the engine then I know what the problem is. not many people know this but actually inside the fuel tank is a primer pump that pressurises the fuel line up to the priming bulb to make it solid at all times. This may need replacing if what I said above is what your experiencing, the fuel primer pump is usually located from the top of the tank. as I said I'm not familiar with you vehicle so it's only a suggestion of the possible cause of your problem.

start by having the faults read so u know why the light is on but it sounds like it may have sucked in some air, if this is the case keep cranking it, if there is a fuel primer on the engine keep pumping it until u feel fuel going through it

most likely cause is the primer plunger on top of the fuel filter,the rubber diaphram is split and its sucking in air

It sounds like you are talking about a diesel engine as gas engines are self priming. Lift pump or primer pump may be defective. Check for loose fittings or lines and damaged o-rings at filter housing. Sounds like you are sucking air somewhere.

I ran my peugeot 406 out of diesel and i think there is an air lock as it starts but doesnt keep running? i had to click on 2006 peugeot 405 as it wouldnt let me select a product. my car is infact a 1996...


406 1996 Diesel would either be 1.9D, 1.9TD or 2.1TD

Each of these use a vacuum type distribution pump, which means once the fuel has managed to get to the pump via means of initial priming it looks after itself by constantly sucking fuel. If the engine stops after a a short time it could be a blockage caused by running very low on fuel. First thing to check is the primer system. You may have the squeazy balloon type or the purflux set up with a hand primer button. The issue is common to be at this point but hard to diagnose.

What I have done in the past is disconnect the pipe going to the main pump and given a seperate feed from a pipe submerged in a can of diesel, if it runs fine then it rules out mechanical and pump issues leaving it only to be a supply issue.

Jag diesel x-type fuel filter change


change fuel filler as normal then connect fuel feed from tank connect injectors leak off to fuel fillter leaving the rail flow pipe off this is the midddle one with the arrow pointing out

connect a piace of clear plastic pipe to this connection and slowly suck the fuel through the filtter and half way up pipe you can see this happen stop sucking the fuel will flow back to fillter take the pipe you were sucking through off and connect the feed to rail pipe turn on and crank engine she will start immediately
