My check engine light came on and took it to auto parts store and they hooked up there machine and it read Error P1167. Fuel Air Metering.

    It's the 2.5L V-6

    Thanks.

  • swheels May 20, 2009

The testing device did not list a zero (0) after the "P".

    Is it still the same?

    Thanks.

  • swheels May 20, 2009

Can you tell me what the Firing Order is for the 2.5L V-6 double over head cam motor in the 1999 Sonata ? Can you post a diagram?

    Thanks a bunch

  • swheels May 20, 2009

How about the Firing Order for the 2.5L V-6 dual overhead cam motor? Diagram ?

    Thanks again.

  • swheels May 21, 2009

According to the Hyundai Dealership, the Firing order you posted is incorrect. They state the firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6. #1 cylinder being closest to the belts on the front of the motor.

Coil order is from front to back 1-4-2-5-3-6

  • swheels May 21, 2009

But there is a difference from a SOHC and a DOHC engine for firing order. Just going by what the dealerships service department told me.

I greatly appreciate all the help you have been.

Trouble Code: P01167

HO2S-11 Controller Adaptive Test (Bank 2)

HI, this code represents a fault within one or both of the O2 sensors that are located on the exhaust system i will list the possible causes of this code you are receiving.

Possible Causes:

Air leaks after the MAF sensor, or in the EGR or PCV system

Base engine "mechanical" fault affecting one or more cylinders

Exhaust leaks located in front of the A/FS or HO2S location

Fuel control sensor is out of calibration (i.e., ECT, IAT or MAP)

Fuel delivery system supplying too little fuel during cruise or idle periods (e.g., faulty fuel pump or dirty, restricted fuel filter)

Fuel injector (one or more) dirty or pressure regulator has failed

HO2S is contaminated, deteriorated or it has failed

Vehicle driven low on fuel or until it ran out of fuel

Engine light on but car runs fine

The Check Engine light is most likely an emissions issue, not necessarily a malfunction that will disable the car.

Go to Auto Zone, Advanced Auto Parts, or other retail auto parts store and have them read the OBD codes for you. They will tell the story.

Good luck !

By the way, fix the easiest / cheapest codes to clear first, if there is more than one error code displayed - often the additional codes will clear up too.

run by your nearest auto parts store. the can hook it up to a computer and get the error code and cross reference it and let you know exactly what the problem is. most stores offer this service free of charge, like autozone, orielys, advanced auto parts ect. hope this post is able to help you. good luck

Engine light

When you get an engine check light, your computer has set an error code. You can take it to most auto parts stores to get that code read (for free) and what the code means.

Check engine light is on took to auto zone they gave me a code that said P1166

Hello there:
P1167 and P1166 codes relate to the primary O2 sensor heater malfunction.
there are two different O2 sensors, a "universal" sensor from Autozone and a supposedly OEM sensor from O'Reilly's. Both of them may cause the car to throw a p1166 or P1167 code and run rough. so i highly recommend getting a O2 sensor from Honda, and this will fix the problem .
It turns out that none of the aftermarket probes from Bosch or Denso will work on a ULEV (F23A4) 4 cyl. engine. Honda had different part number probes for the normal VTEC 4 cyl. and the ULEV Vtec engine and the probes look different and have different length cables. The computers at O'Reilly's, Autozone, or NAPA made no distinction between these two engine types.

Check engine light

What is the code, you need to have a scanner hooked up to read it. That is your first step. (Some auto parts stores will read these for free, but will not give you a lot of information.)

Engine Light

If your engine light is on, then that means there is a trouble code stored in the cars computer. Could be anything, and you will not know what it is until you get the code read. A lot of chain auto parts stores such as Advance auto parts or Autozone will read the code for you at no charge. I would try that first, and that will let you know what the problem is, and what to expect needs to be fixed. If you do not have one of those stores near you, look for any auto parts store that offers a free code read diagnostic. Hope this helps. Please repost a comment if you need additional assistance.

Thank you!

Check Engine light.

Sounds like a bad computer. You may want to have a auto repair shop plug that in and see what they get for codes. If it still won't comunicate then it will need a computer first. That car may have obd1 communications and the parts store obd2 reader won't read it " Link error" see where I'm going with this? That year vehicle could go either way with the communications. Let me know if you need more info and I will try to help you futher. Thanks Dan
