When applying brakes, driver's side of car shudders

When applying the brakes, the driver side of the car shudders. If going 40 mph+, it's hard to control car. Is is the rear brakes? There are no squeaking or grinding noises to indicate an audible brake problem.

This sounds like you have a warped rotor that either needs to be turned or the rotor needs to be replaced. This has nothing to do with the rear brake system at all.

Thanks for your answer. I am wondering though. If my car was shuddering prior to my replacing the pads and rotors and the shuddering occured only when applying the brakes and usually happened when I braked...

Take a look at all the rotors now since you have replaced them. If you notice any unusal wear on one or more rotors, then i would say either the rotor is defective or the brake caliper is at fault. Even with new rotors it does not mean that they are perfect. They may be out of round or they was cut wrong. The problem would even get worse with a caliper piston trying to stick from time to time. Take a little time and inspect each roter inside and out for any kind of unusal wear. Hope this will help you.

98 chevy silverado bounces at 45 mph and when you brake at 45

You can assess this by carefully applying the parking brake part way while holding the release and coasting down hill on an open, unoccupied bit of roadway (conditions permitting). The parking brake applies only the drums on this truck.
A shudder under these conditions would point to drums being out-of-round.

I have a 93 ford probe se the fuel cutoff light is on

when you are traveling about 35 or 40 mph press the brake just hard enough to make shudder let off do it again let and off. if you can control the shudder that way then its the brake if does not do it til you slow to a certian speed then the problem may be engine related. As far as the low idle there is an idle stabilizer which can definitely cause that problem. Or in some case an aged timing belt can cause similar issuses
