Question about 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Oil and antifreeze mixture

My 1999 pontiac Grand Am was making a knocking sound from one of the pistons. Then I noticed oil and antifreeze mixture on the oil stick. Can someone let me know if I blown the engine of the head. It will start if I put water or antifreeze in it but the water runs out and it stalls.

YA, you blown the motor. The motor need to be rebuild, if you lucky, the piston may be still in good sharp. but other things need to be done ASAP. otherwise you have to get a new or rebuild motor.

Don't try to start the car anymore!  You have blown your head gasket.  Take the car to a mechanic and have them check the engine out to make sure you haven't done any further damage to the piston.  If not, have them replace the head gasket and you should be good.  Hopefully it's just the head gasket and you don't need to rebuild the motor.  Hope this helps.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa.

My 2003 grand am just died going down highway i removed the boot from carb water and oil mixture came out head bad?

Common problem with that motor is the intake gaskets fail. It could be that but in reality it sounds like head gaskets are gone

Engine smoking, clicking sound, and over heating shaking

You may have blown a head gasket. smoking is fluids (oil and antifreeze) getting into the cylinder and burning.
SHAKING- When the antifreeze and oil enter the cylinder they don't burn well, causing the plug to foul.
Check your radiator and see if the antifreeze looks like chocolate milk, or check your oil dip stick for the same.
pull your spark plugs and inspect the ends for oil and or antifreeze

My 2005 Pontiac grand prix will start but after about 30 minutes it knocks and dies..also previous it was having temperature problems maybe lead to this.

sounds like it is getting hot.check the antifreeze level. If it was getting hot before it may need head gaskets. Also make sure it is to the full mark on the oil dipstick.

My jeep has a knocking sound coming from the engine and makes the same clicking/knocking sound when I'm accelerating what could this problem be?

noisy lifters, or piston slap, i just had one where the piston went through the block, try on your next oil change putting a liter of tranny fluid in it with the oil, the better lubrication will settle a noisy rocker

Loud knock in engine

Check the oil.It may be low or out. ethier way a knocking sound is bad news because the thing that's nocking in an engine is the pistons and that ain't cool. Do something quick.

1999 pontiac grand am se was making a knocking sound and the temperature showed fine. then it wouldn't start got it started and drove it about 10 blocks. wouldn't start he next time i tried and checked...

well you might of blown the heads with out no water/antefreeze so you will need to do a rebuilt on the heads...but if your lucky then all you have to do is put water on it to see if that works.

Losing coolant

These cars are notorious for intake manifold gaskets leaking also. May not show signs of the water/coolant mixture mixing with the oil for some time. Just speaking from experience.
