Probably a loose tach wire. Look on your distributor for the wire, and disconncet it to see if the engine clears up.

I have a bad shudder or miss at 1500 rpm in my 2006 jeep commander it does it in 4th and 5th gear when it gets around 1500 rpm

that is engine misfire.
use a scan took see P03xx codes (DTC)
get a tune up yet,
like filters and spark parts listed in the opr. guide? yet>

misfire has 50 causes, and about 10 tests with gauges/meters to find after doing a tune up,
spending 100/hr to do all those tests , that tune up cures, makes me rich, well did, im retired. LOL !!!!!

Reasons for cylinder misfires

Ford coil on plug systems are multi strike ignition (spark) under 1300 rpm then go to single strike a single cylinder misfire can be created by several things . #1 Test engine compression on a cranking engine compression it should be around 150 lbs but if gauge reads different COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine #2 check engine running compression this will be around 120 lbs then rev over 2000 rpm and check pressure drop again COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine. any drop would indicate valve train problems. #3 All internal engine is fine then external problems are present vacuum leaks and or fuel injection volume is low.

The rpm gauge is not reading how it should.. how can i fix this?

In order to calculate your speed by the RPM gauge, you need to know your car's gear ratio, the diameter of your tires and what gear you are in. It would be safer to take your car into the shop and have the speedometer repaired. It is a relatively inexpensive repair and much better than a speeding ticket. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Replaced battery - RMP gage is reading 8 plus when car is not moving

There is a problem with the gauge cluster. There are little stepper motors that go bad. There is a place that sells them out of Michigan. 989-790-1911. You can either send them your gauge cluster or just buy the motor and have your electronics guy fix it.
The rpm gauge fails first because it moves the most. They will all stop working sooner or later.

2000 Astro Random Misfire

This sounds like a classic GM plugged catalytic converter symptom. If you like you could remove the oxygen sensor in front of the cat and try driving it. With the sensor removed, the exhaust can escape a little more easily and will drive better if the cat is the problem. If you have the right fitting and a gauge, you could actually measure the back pressure at the oxygen sensor hole. It should not be any higher than about 2 psi at 3000 rpm. I have seen this problem several times now on these vans and I'm almost certain this is your problem.
Hope this helps,
