Freon smell coming through vents on 323ibmw

I don't think there is any smell put into refrigerant,so
you may be smelling coolant from a heater hose or
heater core leak or system valve, somewhere

The A/C cycling could be low refrigerant, in which case
you have it leak tested & system repaired

You don't try to add yourself,it will leak out & pollute
the atmosphere

Ac clutch not engaging. before that it worked intermitedly

Sounds like you are low on refrigerant (R134). Have someone put some gauges on the system to have it checked properly. Hope this helps, TJ

How to put freon in system at home

If you have to add refrigerant, you obviously
know you have a leak & adding will polute the
atmosphere.

While not enforced except at repair shops,
it is against the law to do so

How will you know how much is in the system
& how much to add,you don't

Leave that to a trained mechanic

AC booster recharge hook-up

You can only attach the the recharge hose from the kit to the low side ( A/C service port) and the cap should be blue with a leter L on it. Good luck and follow the instruction and don't over charge the system. With the AC on the coldest setting, use a thermometer in a middle vent. Normal vent temperature readings will vary depending on the (ambient) outside temp. The vent temperature should range from around 42-55 degrees in my experience. If normal gauge readings are obtained and the vent air is cold - STOP don’t overcharge the system. The only proper way to remove refrigerant is with a AC recovery machine so if this is being done at home I can’t emphasize enough not to over charge the system. And actually the best way to insure the proper charge is in a system, is to use an AC machine to recover the R134a and then evacuate and recharge the system with the correct amount. Most cars have the specified amount on a decal under the hood.  Good luck and hope this helps.

I'm trying to add refrigerant to my 1993 Infinit J30. I got the can of sealant and coolant mix from my local parts repair store, but the refrigerant doesn't seem to be leaving the can going into the car....

Do you have the car running while you are trying to charge the system?
And, do you have the can installed on the low side line (larger line)?
Let me know.

AC has stopped blowing cold air. Compressor is working. Where is the recharge valve located?

There are two A/C refrigerant lines. The small line is your high pressure line and the larger line is your low pressure line.
Start at the fire wall and follow the "large " low pressure line to the compressor. The low pressure charge port will be some where on that line.
DO NOT try to recharge on the high pressure side ( small line )
Good luck, let me know.
