Question about 1998 Volkswagen Beetle
My blower switch went and so we replaced it and when the car was back together we had no heat to the seats, but then we noticed that the speedometer and odometer dont work either
Sounds like you unplug tge wiring harness or broke the speedometer cable. Id leave more towards an unplugged harness.

There are even a set of torx screws behind the radio. use a flashlight to see then they are easy to miss.
If you don't know how to get the radio out you need a tool shaped kind of like a key. One goes in each side to unlock the radio and it will pull out forward.

BTW - if you have less than 100,000miles you might be able to have your cat replaced under warranty by the dealer. In Canada it's 160,000km.

that will the next thing.
make sure the water is restricted at any point, from the lower hose to the engine back to the upper hose and back to the radiator.
the best way to check that out is to flash the radiator. you can see the water change color and feel the engine temperture.

check the vehicle spped sensor on the transmission, if that does work, it may be the gear on the differential that has come apart. that gear is plastic and does break. if this is the case, there is a way to remove the differential and replace the plastic gear, not the transmission.
