While doing the clutch you more than likely unplug the fuel pump wiring harness or the crankshaft sensor and this wiil cause the truck not to start. Check under the truck for a unplugged wiring harness and reconnect it and I am sure your truck will start.
May be having fuel pressure problems. I would change the fuel filter if you haven't in awhile. A plugged filter will cause the fuelpump to overwork, not build proper pressure & wear out prematurely.
had a 2000 blazer 4.3 wouldnt start in really cold enviroment..... ended up being the FUEL PUMP RELAY.... it still running good... bout every ther day or so... but it acted like your truck
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 1999 GMC YUKON WITH THE 5.7 ENGINE HAVING TO JUMP START ALL THE TIME TO GET IT RUNNING, THE PROBLEM WITH MINE WAS THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED, EVEN WHEN I REMOVED THE PUMP AND TURNED THE KEY FUEL PUMPED OUT BUT WAS NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE TO GET AND KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING.I ALSO TRIED STARTER FLUID, THE ENGINE WOULD RUN UNTIL THE FLUID BURNED OFF.SO THE SOLUTION FOR MY TRUCK WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND NOW ITS STARTING LIKE A CHAMP
A very common problem on the 99 S10 is a leaky fuel pressure regulator in the intake plenum. What happens is when the truck sits for a few hours or more the regulator leaks all of the fuel in the fuel injection system into the intake air plenum. This does 2 things, 1 it has no fuel pressure when starting and 2 it floods the air intake with raw fuel. Sometimes if you turn the key on wait 3 seconds then turn key off then turn key back on and just turn key to crank starter for a split second and wait 3 seconds.do this 3 times to repressurize fuel system then crank to start(you will hear fuel pump buzz each time you do this.also you may have leaky fuel injectors. Try to crank engine with the gas pedel to the floor. This will tell the computer to stop spraying fuel trhough the injectors and it will start. Joe ASE Master Tech
Check the fuel pump run relay under the hood in the power distribution box, it may be sticking and not allowing the pump to run after the key is released on start up, crank and run are 2 separate circuits on the pump. FixYa.com claims they have factory repair manuals, they have nothing of the sort, this is not to say some experts may have manuals, we do, but we work from home and in most cases have a small library. Experts are not employed by FixYa.com, we help free of charge as much as we can with the general automotive knowledge we have learned while working as auto technicians, specific test values, repair procedures and illustrations are unique to each car line, these are not in most cases available to us.
