Do you not think this would have caused some internal damage?

Seems it needs overhauling!
oil drained could cause serious damage to engines due to too much friction leading to overheating and damage to major engine parts like pistons, sleeves, shafts and bearings. seems you'd spend much for your repair! i recommend total overhauling for your car!!!

It is likely that when the oil drained with the motor running all moving parts within the engine started to wear rapidily this could have caused pistons or worse to seize. you will prob need a rebuild or new engine

which diesel eng does the truck have? If its the powerstroke it is located on the firewall, if it is the non-powerstroke(IDI) engine it does not have one as the fuel pump is mechanical.

sounds like a fuel line. trace the fuel line from under the truck on the driversside should go up the back of the motor. the fuel line is probably spraying over to the passenger side of the motor. yes this could cause a power loss.

Fuel leaking from dain

I am assuming this is a diesel 7.3l powerstroke? Leaking from housing or the drain? If the housing itself is leaking maybe the oring on the lid is bad or it is cracked. If it is leaking out the drain hose the little petcock valve is probably bad. That little hose is for draining out water in the filter housing. Make sure the valve is tightened. If it is get a new valve and install it. If it still leaks take the cover off of the motor and check the o-ring on the lid where the fuel filter goes make sure it is not pinched, hardened, or cracked. Then run the truck with the filter housing exposed and check for leaks and or cracks after of course re-installing the lid for the filter housing.

you will need an allen wrench to remove the scre w facing toward the trans. look like a quarter with an allen in the center. not hard to find. once it is drain all over your arm, reinstall and turn the key off and on for 3 times then start and let it run for 5 mins. if you don't it will stall on you if you try to drive right away. change the filter under the hood if your are going to do all that. best of luck.

Can i add fluid to the rear differential on my 1997 f250 powerstroke?

Yes, you should be able to add it thru the level check plug, which I believe is removed with a 1/2 inch drive extension that should fit in the plug, and just loosen and remove. To be at the correct level, the gear oil should just start to flow out of the plug hole. And of course, for an accuracy, do this on a level surface.

I would start by checking your oil level. The injectors are ran by oil pressure and if its low it will not fire. Also check the fuse box under the hood on the driver side. make sure your glow-plug controller fuse is not blown. Should be the top fuse next to the diode. If you still have no luck, check your fuel filter. Try draining your water seperator bowl completely and then holding the accelerator pedal to the floor when you try to starting it. If it begins to fire let off the pedal immediately. Hope this helps you out.
