I changed the water pump but did not mark the my timing belt

And now i casnt get it into the right timing it turns on but its missing real bad n making da plugs black

Your gonna have to set everything from factory marks on the crank and cam then,top dead center, if your timing is off bad enough and it self adjusts the timing you could be out a car, dont wait do it tommorrow mornibng

How to change time belt on 1995 mitsubishi mirage


You do not really need a manual to change the belts. All Mitsubishi cars pretty much hide the water pump under the timing belt. You should buy all new belts for the car and if you have 150,000+ miles consider replacing the water pump at the same time.
You will have to take off the power steering belt .
First , take off the negative battery cable so you do not blow an expensive fuse on the positive battery cable clamp. Facing the back of the car , reach UNDER the alternator and loosen the bolt on the bottom right side, now loosen the bolt on the adjuster block on top, you can now turn the adjuster bolt and move the alternator to change the belt.
To take off the steering pump belt on the front of the motor, you need to loosen the nut on the back side of the pulley it holds the adjuster pulley in place . With the adjuster pulley loose , you can use the adjuster bolt to move the pulley to adjust the steering pump belt.
Now take off the upper belt cover, support the motor, take off the motor mount, jack up the right front corner of the car, take off the front right tire, take off the engine plastic under cover.
Line up the TDC timing mark on the cover to the mark on the pulley, using an air wrench to loosen the center bolt take off the lower pulleys,
take off the lower engine cover, observe the timing marks/arrows and highlight with paint (crank marks and cam marks should all line up if not , rotate the crankshaft one full turn.), loosen the timing belt tensioner pulley ,take off the timing belt, counter balancer belt if there is one. Now you can unbolt the water pump, scrape the gasket, and replace it.
The good news is, if you have tools,a compressor, an air gun(for lower pulley bolt), patience , and four to eight hours to kill, you can actually save money and do it your self.

I have a 2000 lhs. changed timing belt, water pump. turned engine over twice and checked timing marks. marks were inline. start engine and have a miss. checked out and found dead cylinder. swap spark plug...

What are the steps to replace the water pump on 1996 lexus es300


Hi, you will need some special tool like : External torx (star)socket, pully and regular tool (# 10,12,14 etc..metric) to change the water pump. First, you need to clear the room for the job because such as Two belts -(alternator,air cond., pump ect and pully) need to disconnected and take out the plastic cover, tire e.t.c. There are about ten bolts. The water pump is inside the plastic cover which turns by the timing belt. I strongly recomment to change the timing belt at the same time ($30.00-timing belt- It last about 80000-90,000 miles). Remember to mark the timing gear carefully when you take the timing belt out. This will help you put the timing belt back in the right degree for the engine perform. Water pump can only replace after the timing belt is disconnected.

How do you remove the timing belt cover on a 1995 VW Golf.


What is needed Tools: 6mm and 8mm allen wrench socket, 5mm allen wrench. 8mm, 13mm, 19mm socket and ratchet. 10mm combination wrench. Long ratchet extensions (at least one 6in, more are helpful). 5inch Wheel puller (for main shaft pulley). (Some models may need a special spanner tool to adjust the timing belt tensioner) Parts: 2 gal of anti-freeze mixed with distilled water. All three V-belts. (Alt, A/C, P/S) $32.95 New water pump top. $91.91 New gasket for WP. $9.13 New timing belt. $26.13.


Procedure:

Remove battery cable (either power (+) or ground (-)) remove alternator remove A/C remove power steering pump .Remove water pump pulleys remove main shaft pulleys remove timing belt covers remove A/C mounting hardware remove timing belt (don't turn any of the wheels its connected to) replace timing belt adjust belt tension remove water pump face put on new gasket and new part.

Leave pulleys off. replace bottom timing belt cover, replace crank shaft pulley, replace steering pump, replace A/C, put small belt on A/C (hang loose) put large belt around A/C, Main and water pump pulley. put middle size belt on Main water pump and power steering pump reattach bolts for the steering pump pulleys put alternator back on adjust all belts. connect battery

Problem areas:
Main pulley: There are 4 6mm hex head bolts. These must be removed. The main 19mm hex head can be used to turn the engine it the timing belt slips and you have to readjust the timing.

Putting on new belts: This can be a real pain if you get VW belts. The adjustments won't give enough to put the belts over the edge so the easy way is to remove the pulley on the water pump. Then its real easy.

Timing: If you turn the wheels that the timing belt goes on you will have to reset the timing. Mark the timing points with something like whiteout so its easy to see. The timing mark on the toothed gears are small dots. The timing mark for the crankshaft is a small cut on the outer pulley. When its aligned with the intermediate wheel timing mark (there is an arrow on the cover as a hint) should intersect as viewed from the right wheel well. The camshaft timing mark should line up with the top of the engine near the front.

Power steering pump: It is held on with lots of bolts. One is in a channel that is hard to see but can be found with a 6" extension. If you look at the pump you will see three bolts that go into the housing. This should give you an idea where the forth is.

Hello tim42220: y name is Roger and I will help. If the timing belt does not turn when you crank the engine the belt is bad. The belt has a habit of striping the teeth of a the crankshaft gear. This engine shows to be a non-interference engine. That means if the belt breaks the valves should not bend. This is something you should be able to do if you are mechanically inclined. Main thing is to be sure all timing marks are right. I would strongly recommend replacing the water pump at the same time. The water pump is turned by the timing belt. Should the water pump go bad it will also damage the timing belt. They do make a timing belt kit that includes the belt and all new timing belt idler pulleys. You will need to reload the belt tension-er. This is the worst part as it is hard to reset the plunger. Easier to by a new one but they are not cheap. If you look at the new belt you should see two solid stripe markings and one stripe that is a dotted line.I would also replace the camshaft seals as they are the reason for the oil leaking onto the timing belt. When installed correctly the marks align with the timing marks on the engines cam and crankshaft. Enclosed is a picture of the timing marks.Should you need further help please just ask. BAD ENGINE NOISE RIGHT AFTER REPLACING TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP


if poor performance was noticed right off the bat, the timing belt is not timed properly. this will cause lack of power, rough idle, pre ignition(little noisey), and rich exhaust.youre going to need to first, find a friend or someone whom you trust to do your automotive work.second youre going to need to start over by tearing it all down systematically and taking note of anything done wrong. third find reliable information on the timing marks for this vehicle. i hope for your sake nothing is broken. let me know how this turns out, ill be happy to help further if you need.

check spark plug wires to make sure they"re not miss-routed... start at the coils and work towards the plugs make real sure its got correct firing order sequence... it is usually posted on a label under the hood of most cars and also make sure they have a real good snap on connection both on coil and plugs and that the terminal posts on the coils are really clean! if this doesn't fix the problem then it probably is a timing chain problem..it might not be installed correctly. good luck to you! i hope its just a miss wire.
