How to re-charge the A/C on a 2005 Malibu

Good morning,

How do I properly recharge the A/C on a 2005 Chevy Malibu, and what special tools would I need... Or should I pay someone else to do it?

Over time it's just becoming less and less cold, taking longer to work, etc.

Quick question....why are you wanting to recharge it? Have you done anything to the system to require it to be recharged? Are you wanting to do it because you believe it is not blowing air cold enough into the vehicle?

If so, you may not need to charge it rather, you have a problem with A/C system itself. Let us know what your A/C is doing.

You would be better off paying someone that knows what they are doing and has the proper equipment. If the a/c system in your car blows only warm air then most likely there is a "leak" in the system. Automotive a/c systems are considered "closed systems" and the freon should not leak out. Have the person that does the job partial charge the system and find the leak. If you don't fix the leak it won't take long before the freon is gone again. Freon is pretty expensive so it's to your benifit to fix the leak first. Good luck, hope this helps.

Better to pay someone else to do that for you sir! purchasing the tools\equipments would be more expensive! just have it recharge to a reliable and trained service center/persons.

How hard is it to change a shift solenoid on an 2005 chevy malibu

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would put it at a 9, you gave to have a good tool selection and be pretty mechanically inclined to do this job, there's a lot of work involved with replacing either solenoid but if you do decide to tackle this job replace both while you have it torn apart, good luck

How does one check transmission oil in 2005 chevy malibu maxx

You don't yourself. The lube change shop or garage can do this (requires special tools or removal of the pan). for a 2005 you're likely in need of a flush. some models can have a dipstick installed, but its not necessary. Unless you have a serious leak of fluid or shifting issues, it's rare to lose fluid. If you are having issues, then start with a flush and inspection BY A REPUTABLE GARAGE. do not use a dealer or transmission shop, they will always find ways to seprate you from your $$$

Where the fuel filter is located on chevy malibu maxx 2005

along the frame rail, will need special tools that you can get at any parts store. Remove gas cap to depressurize the system first. You will still have to get agressive with the line, sometimes u think your going to break it.

It means something isn'nt at peak.
Not immediately serious just make sure your water and oil are proper, The dealer would be your best bet for diagnostics. and resetting the light. Good luck

Before starting this job I would get a repair manual. This is not a easy job, 6+ hours for an experienced tech with all of the right tools. And you may have to discharge and recharge the AC system.
