Have a 2009 Yukon 5.3 motor it has a lifter tick at startup sometimes really loud sometimes not is there a service bulletin. It has AFM lifters I think that has something to do with it.

I have cured just a few using a real AC Delco filter and synthetic 5w-30 oil. GM recommends using only 5w-30 oil in your engine because other weights can cause air to get into the lifters during start up and cause lifter noise.

Lifter sticking on startup 2001 Tahoe when cold stops after it warms up

Change the oil and filter. Add some RISLONE to the oil. It has been around as long a hyd lifters. It should clean the sludge/varnish from the lifter and the noise will go away.

Engine ticking on cold startup

There are additives for the oil that frees sticking lifters. Try putting some in the oil first. If that doesn't work then you'll have to replace all the lifters . Never just replace just one.

A ticking sound on a 06 ford f150 super crew 5.4L

Ticking sound could be coming from a Coil-on-Plug, or a pcv valve, or (hope it's not) a valve lifter which could be sticking. Sticking lifter noise often disappears when rpm's change, or the noise comes & goes. try changing the motor oil & filter right after adding an Engine-Flush Treatment to the motor oil, running the engine for 10 minutes at idle with treatment added to the oil, then draining the oil & changing filter while oil is still very hot. That last part is very important, so be careful not to burn your hands - be careful. -- The sticking lifter is a likely cause if motor oil has not been changed at frequent intervals in the past (every 3-4K miles) -- dirty oil causes sticking lifters.

It was making a noise, like the rocker arm, like a lifter was sticking,so i put tran fluid in the motor 1/2 qt 2 see if wood unstick

It is probably the lifter or cam shaft. Take a stick and use it as a listening device against the shield and you should be able to hear the difference.

How do i stop my lifter in the motor from sticking...it makes my engine sound like it needs oil

I doubt if there is a lifter sticking. People who say that usually don't know what the noise is. Lifters in your car are operated by oil pressure from the oil pump in the engine. If you are low on oil you will hear lifter noise, probably from more than one lifter. If you are that low on oil, you have probably done some serious damage to your engine. In short, without tearing the engine down you can do nothing for a noisy lifter.

Ticking Noise at Startup

Possibly a leaking hydraulic lifter. They can leak down while engine isn't running and then make a ticking noise for a while on startup. If it takes 10-15 minutes to go away, it is more likely to be a loose tappet which needs adjusting.
