After repairs are made you must locate a small box in the middle of the speedometer cable under the dashboard and, press a button inside a tiny hole in that box with a small screwdriver this resets the light as, the light comes on only because so many miles have been driven

I would look at the Map Sensor or the O2 Sensor then the EGR Valve. As far as I know all vehicles have EGR valves. Get the Haynes Manual on your vehicle for location and replacement steps for all of these. It could also be a Throttle Position sensor or clogged or malfunctioning injector units, the Haynes manual will assist you in isolating these.

Try replacing the coolant control temp sensor, the one to the computer (usually it will have two wires), not the sensor to the temp light or gauge (usually has only one wire).

Check engine light

Check all of the connections to the ECM--twice.

Be sure the four-letter code on your replacement ECM matches the one you removed.

The ECM relies on calibrations performed on some sensors while at the factory. For that reason there may be a switch or a sensor that is reading out of range.

If it seems to be running fine, drive it for a while and get an accurate measurement of MPG. Poor MPG will indicate that things like O2 sensor, MAP/MAF, TPS, IAC, IAT are not reading properly. Check for codes with a OBD-I reader.
