Question about Cars & Trucks
Car was taken in for replacement on the cambelt because of ping on the engine, Now car runs on 3 pistons and no power
Pinging in the engine is detonation caused fro wrong air fuel mixture for the accelerator opening and engine load. It is controlled by knock sensors that adjust the mixture in the CPU .IT has nothing to do with valve timing but may be affected by ignition timing . I would be having a compression test done to check for bent valves ( bent during the belt replacement). Have the cam timing re checked as it may be still out a bit.

You need to get or rent a ball joint splitter, maybe $20? or so to buy. Some parts stores (autozone does this, one reason i recommend them, but other stores may also) will rent you some tools for "free" when you buy parts there .. they take a big deposit in case you bolt ... but give it all back for return of the tool in good condition.
It's easy ... if you know how to work on suspension .. if not, get a Haynes manual for your car from part store, amazon or haynes.com for around $20, the blood and busted knuckles you save due to reading it will be worth the money ;~).

bit confused...the cranksensor will be on the gearbox housing the camsensor will be near the cams not the gearbox if the camsensor has packed up it wont start but if it packs up while driving the engine will run untill you stop it then it wont start,a cranksensor could cause the engine to stop at anytime if it fails..your problem could be the idle air control valve or a timing related issue..

sounds like your timing belt has snapped, allowing the engine to tutrn over but the belt is not turning the vales, hence no start

I have 2 meganes im working on at the moment both have the same problem. the electrical falt light is on coz the pipe has snapped (or come off) under the bonnet on the passangers side close to the window (theres a black box about 2 inch wide the pipe connects underneath). if I reconect the pipe and grab the engien with both hands it wobbles and the pipe pulls off. I suspect this is coz one (or all) the engien mountings are shagged. and this will be the cause of the juddering when driveing in first and second gears. solutions iv have come across for juddering involve changeing the coil pack but thats nothing to do with the problem my 2 cars have as one of them has new coils. they are 1.6 petrol, p reg and s reg
