Question about Kia Sedona

02 KIA Sedona keeps blowing headlights

I have changed my head lights 2 times in the past week. I am not touching them when i install them at all. I have notice this time when they went out, was that my van started like it was going to turn off when I turned my heater on then the inside dash lights got real bright and my head lights when out. the i turned on my high beams and they went right out. Can someone please help me out with this, I really dont want to spend 40.00 again on bulbs. I changed the fuse in the black box and nothing has changed in the past 6 months.

Have the operating voltage checked.. your regulator may be overcharging and sending 18-or more volts through the system..the max should be 16..most run at 14.5 -16..if thats the case a new alternator is needed..

HHey Jerome, Thanks for the info. it was sending over 18 volts through the systems. We changed the alternator. Tested it again and now its at 13 to 15 volts. We also found that when I changed out the alternator back in 08 the first time, the guy changed out my pulley and we found out with this new alternator that you are not suppose too. the smaller pulley was supposed to stay on. Thanks again

SOURCE: DRL and High Beam do not work right on Honda Accord EX 1998

Some time back I found some data on a similar website suggesting that the Day Light Running circuit board, just under the steering column, developed cracks in some of the soldered joints. Your high beams should also be affected with loss of day light running lights.
Resoldering repaired the continuity of the circuits. Ours is now working quite reliably. Some of the defective areas developed slight brownish discoloration, that's how I was told to recognise the areas to be resoldered. Hope this will help you solve your problem.

MY 02 KIA SEDONA STARTS UP AND RUNS FINE FOR 20 MINUTES THEN SHUTS OFF THEN AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES STARTS BACK UP THEN SHUTS BACK DOWN AFTER DRIVING FOR LITTLE WHILE AND KEEPS REPEATING THE SAME.WHAT...

Sounds like the same problem I have been having with my 2002
Sedona for the past 6 or 8 months. It would run OK for several days,
weeks, or months, then just quit. If I let it set for 10 to 20 minutes, it
would restart and run fine for at least the rest of that day. About 2
weeks ago, I was fortunate that it happened when someone was
with me, so I was able to determine that it was not getting any spark.
Since then the problem has gotten worse and more frequent - it was
happening almost every day and would take over 1/2 an hour before it
would start again. This morning was the last straw. I drove for about 4
miles and it quit. Took 1 hour and 10 minutes before it would restart.
Drove another 2 miles and did it again. This time it took 1 hour 35
minutes before restart. After 1 more mile, it quit again. Took 2 hours,
this time. Made it another mile and BAM! - did it again. My bro towed
me home. I determined that it is most likely NOT the crankshaft
position sensor, because 99% of the time they either work, or they
don't. Very rarely does it cause in intermittant problem. The most
likely suspect is the engine computer. That was always a likely
culpret when I worked on GM cars. Today I installed a $50 junk yard
engine control computer.
I am crossing my fingers!
I will know on Thursday, as I have a 50 mile trip to make.
I will post again on Thursday, to let you all know.

I am having the same problem with my "06" Sedona!

You go to a repair shop that subcribes to a data
base called ALLDATA ,Mitchell,Motor etc.

Ask them to look at technical bullettins
They should do that for free, and confirm
what the dealer said.

A $70.00 lamp one time, when this all
started, is starting to look cheap, after the fact

The last couple nights I see alot of KIA Vehicle
problems ,I never noticed over the past year.

They were the number one Veh at the Jan, Detroit
Auto Show,go figure!

06 KIA Sedona keeps blowing low beam headlight every 90 day give or take some days. owned for 2 years replaced headlights 6-7 times. the good news i have become very fast at replacing them. Ha Ha

These did have an issue with headlamps. Have the charging system checked for proper voltage(under 15v, usuall charging is around 14.5). The quality of the bulb is critical and must not be a generic brand. If this thing is still under warranty, get all the paperwork together ad take it into the dealer. How many miles are on this van? Another item to consider is whether or not you are touching the bulb with your fingers. The bulbs WILL burn out faster if the oils from your fingers sit on the bulb and cook. Make sure that the rubber drain on the lens assemblyis clear and not obstructed. Let me know. I used to work for KIA so I am versed in some of their practices.

Headlighs very dim

dont change bulds check battery and alternator first at oreyllys or autozone they do it for free same problem with my 02 jetta light were dimming replace battery it still was doing that it ended up being the alternator. in my case my car almost died becauce los of power alternator was sucking all power from battery. in your case did you check the cables on your headlights make sure they are not loose.

Headlight burs out about every 2 months

FIRSTLY ONLY BUY QUALITY BULBS DONOT TOUCH THE GLASS PART OF THE BULB WHEN FITTING THEM. GET THE CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKED IF THE ALTERNATOR OUT PUT IS TOO HIGH THE FIRST THING TO BLOW WILL BE THE HEADLAMP BULB NEXT CHECK THE HEADLAMP IS SECURE AND NOT LOOSE ALSO THE BULB HOLDER IS CLIPPED SECURLEY AS THIS ACTS AS A HEAT SINK FOR THE BULB

Change spark plug wires on 04 kia sedona

REMOVAL OF THE PLUGS:

Do not attempt any maintenance on spark plug if engine is hot.
1. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2. Carefully remove high-tension leads.
3. Use compressed air to blow any dirt or debris from around spark plug hole.
4. Check that spark plug fits squarely in spark plug socket and remove spark plug.

Raise a vehicle and install SST(OK552 131 001) in order to replace cylinder 2, 4, 6 spark plug.

INSTALLATION:

1. Install spark plug into cylinder head.

Tightening torque : 18~22lb-ft (25~30N·m, 2.5~3.0kg-m)

2. Reconnect high-tension leads.
3. Reconnect negative battery cable.

Hope this helps and simple to understand. Good luck
