Lug nuts- 2010 Odyssey

I want to put Honda Pilot steel wheels on my 2010 odyssey which has aluminum stock wheels. Honda says factory lug nuts for steel and aluminum pilot wheels are different but can't tell me how. 1. Will my odyssey alum wheels lugs nuts work on stell wheels?-remember Pilot steels have plastic center that is held on by lug nuts. 2.What kind/type/style lug nuts do I need to put steel stock Pilot wheels on my odyssey-where can I get them? Thanks Willie in Colo Spgs

Same problem on an 02 X-Type. I called a mechanic and he said to use a 7/8" socket. I have yet to give it a try, but I thought it might help.

I tried to post a solution but didn't realize that I needed to sign up first.

SOURCE: What are the proper lug nuts to use on my 97 rodeo with 16" wheel

the lugs should have a flat washer and a spring washer the lug should have a long cylinder shape on one end that is tapered to tighten up the wheel the washers hold the plastic hubs in place you might try a wrecking yard or a dealer for them

SOURCE: wheel nuts on back wheel of 06 ford focus stripped.

Hi Ray,

I put in some time at an auto salvage yard. Aluminum wheels were big sellers and not something we wanted to damage.

When the lug nuts needed some persuading, we got out the high impact 12 pt deep sockets.

First try we used the correct size.

If they were stripped, one size smaller. We hammer them on to the lug and use a breaker bar with a pipe extension.

The only real problems we had were getting the lug nuts out of the sockets.

Good luck and best regards,

Wheel stud removal honda odyssey

I am currently doing the front driver side. If you have the big center nut without a cotter pin, I would suggest you have a shop do it. There is no way to remove and install lug bolts on this particular vehicle without removing the hub, and this hub SUCKS to remove. Here is what I did, and NO, I do not recommend doing it this way. Remove wheel and brake caliper assy. Suspend brake to keep weight off the brake line. Remove two philips head screws holding rotor to hub. These screws can be frozer tight. I used an impact type screwdriver to remove these. Remove the large nut..lmao...sounds easy. This nut is 36mm but i got away with using a 1-7/16 6 sided impact socket with a 1inch impact wrench. A huge breaker bar would work as well. I imagine the foot pounds to be astronomical and I doubt most saturday mechs will have the tools to remove it. Put the rotor back on, but backwards. Use a couple of lug nuts to bolt it to the hub. There is enough left of the broken lugs to use them. I then took a typical harmonic balance removal tool and utilized the two holes that had the philips head screws. Using the spindle as my center, I applied pressure to the spindle, causing it to retreat back into the hole. When the pressure got decent, I took two small pry type tools and put them between the back of the hub and fixed piece, probably called a steering knuckle or something. Kept wiggling and prying little by little...added a little more balancer pressure...more works it way out..finally. I believe the manual says to use a large slide hammer system to remove the hub. Wish I had one. Hammer out the old studs, press in the new. You can also using open lug nuts to pull the studs flush. Just make sure the splines are lined up. Assy is much much easier.

Front wheel lugs are breaking

Hello, Are you using the factory wheels? If you are using aftermarket wheels, the wheel center might not be fitting snugly on the hub like it should causing the wheel to move slightly. The bolts aren't the only thing you need to keep the wheel centered. If the wheel starts moving up and down it will eventually break the studs.
If you find this information to be correct would you please enter a "fixya" rating.
Thanks, Gator241
