SOURCE: where is the cooling fan

jmsrock, I looked in both the boxes and it doesn't show a cooling fan relay which does surprise me. You might want to check the temp sending unit to make sure that is working as well as the connections from there to your "Computer" for any loose wires. I don't even see a fuse for the cooling fan. Does it turn on when you turn the A/C on? Check to make sure the fan motor itself is good. Do you not have an owners manual as that would have listed your fuse locations for you. If you don't have one you can post a reply with your email or if you don't want to do that you can email me at csautomotivecars@att.net and I can send you one for your vehicle and don't worry I will send it to you for free. I have it on file in a PDF format. I hope this helped and good luck.

Ck engine light problem on 2001 Impala

Well the code is for the circuit - the computer commands the relay to turn the fan on and it doesn't happen.
The computer provides the ground for the relay.
If you have replaced the relay and the fan and the fuse still blows, I would look for a problem in the harness between the fuse box and the fan, including the ground circuit for the fan.
The fuse for the cooling fan is usually a 30amp marked "cooling fan" in the fuse box in the engine compartment.
Do you know what the 25amp fuse that is blowing is for ?

Relay and fuse diagram for 2001 Saturn SL

In the engine compartment fuse junction box its the fourth relay, you cant miss it, The fan fuse is the big 30 amp fuse. The cooling fan should come on when the air conditioning switch is activated,Your problem you are dealing with is common on Saturn the cooling fan never comes on.And you have to use the air condition system just to turn the fan on.Heres a way to trouble shoot the fan if you cant find the relay for the fan or you found the relay theres is two big relays one is the cooling fan.The other is the air pump ,take the cover off the relay and expose the mechanism, get a non conductive tool a toothpick will work fine collapse the relay so it make contact with the key on engine off make the relay make contact the fan should come on ,if it doesnt and you see spark(little spark)as you close the relay this tell you the power works replace the fan..if the fan comes on swap the relay.

What is a R16 and R15 relay/fuse in a 2001 ford focus?

R15 and R16 refers to relay POSITIONS. These relay positions in your 2001 Ford Focus are located in the battery junction block. (see lower right of diagram below)

In this case, relay position R15 is used for the Engine Cooling Fan Relay (Level 2, A/C) and fuse position R16 is used for the Engine Cooling Fan Relay (Level 1).

Radiator cooling fan fuse location for Ford Taurus

The cooling fan on a ford car usually does not have a fuse. The cooling fans are controlled by a relay in the power distribution box inside the engine compartment. The box is usually located near the battery. Your owners manual should have a guide showing you what each relay in the box is for.

Fuse location/ Cooling fan relay location

The relay for the cooling fan is located on the left side (north america drivers side) of the rad about half way down or near the top (may vary) there may be two relays or one, replace them both. As for the fuse location it should be under your dash (fuse panel) looks like a big silver fuse similar to a zippo lighter, it will be marked in fine print "engine fan".
