Which engine> (he opens hood and looks and for other damage)
varies in every town , the world over. no location stated, so is impossible to answser,,,,,,
here in TX. about $500 4hr. plus parts. (can be more,depending...)
course dealer will be 2 times that. heck they charge $20 for a simple spark plug.
it may vary by engine options, too. what size engine,,etc.
and weather the water pump leaks as he's looking there.
and all the hoses are all cracked (as they surely are after 18 year bake. or finds the tensionors bad. or?

we do water pump and belt together... they have same life span, being the rational for that, and only wanting down time, 1 time.

Water pump

The water pump on this vehicle whether it is a four cylinder or a V-6 engine is driven by the timing belt and the timing belt has to be removed in order to change the water pump. The labor is between four and five hours times your local labor rate and figure about $150 in parts to as high as $350 in parts if you're going to do the timing belt and bearings. This job is not for the amateur home mechanic

How much is timing belt and tune up for 97 mitsubishi eclipse

I,m not sure what the hourly labor rate for your area is as it differs in different locations. What I can tell you is that a timing belt change shows 3.5 hours in the labor guide & a tune up shows 1.3 hours in the labor guide. So depending on your shops hourly rate plus the cost of the parts should give you a round about figure of the cost. I hope this helped and good luck. This was for a 2.0 liter engine (Base model) it does come with a 2.4 also but didn't look that one up.

What would you charge to replace a serpantine belt on my 2006 Matrix XR - 43,000 miles? My zip code is 53222

Hello. Welcome to FixYa. Please allow us to assist you.

You are looking at one-half hour labor, times your area's local labor rate; plus the belt (90080-91139-83), which is $39.84, plus any applicable taxes in your state.

Our service facility would charge $35.00 labor for the belt replacement.

Thanks for choosing FixYa today.

Please come back again if you need any other help on your Matrix.

The timing belt should be replaced every 60,000 miles, this is very important because this engine is not free wheeling if the belt fails, this means the engines valves hit the pistons. The cost to replace the timing belt is about $300 but varies with local labor rates, the rate where I live is $100.00 per hour.

Replace water pump cost

the time to replace is 3.8 hours. multiply this by the shop flat rate and this will give you a labor rate. call some local parts houses to find the price on the pump, dodge gets around 98dollars hope this helps, depending on when you last changed the timing belt you ight want consider doing this at this time as it has to come off to change the water pump. this is an interference engige if the belt breaks it will damage the valves, you should only have to pay for the belt. hope this helps if not ghet back tome and i'll try to help you further. please rate my fix, as i strive to the best Thanks Ray

2004 Chrysler Sebring problems

That dealer is ripping you off. Ask around to find a good repair shop.
Just for the heck of it, I called an auto parts store, and the cost of the timing belt is around $36.00 and the sensor is about $100.00.
Different shops charge different labor rates. But it shouldn't cost anywhere near that dealer. Good luck.
