According to the Hyundai service website, "If there is an open or short circuit in the vehicle speed sensor signal
circuit, the engine may stall when the vehicle is decelerated to a stop." This sounds like what you're describing, so you should check out the detailed troubleshooting info for the VSS at www.hmaservice.com, available free with registration.
The transmission does have a separate computer (TCM), it's a $700 plus item from the dealer, but if necessary you can get one for much less from a salvage yard. The same goes for the ECM.
