I had my fuel pump and fuel filter replaced on my 6 cyl. 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee.....also had a tune up.....put in fuel injector cleaner....what's going on is that it is missing while it is in idle and while driving, I put the cleaner in and now it's not missing while I'm driving it, but only when the car is not moving. Does anyone know if I need to put in new fuel injectors?
It's not my lifters because the engine sounds strong while driving....there's no ticking coming from the valves. One person is telling me that the fuel injectors hardly ever get bad and that it's probably the Idle Control Sensor or the Master Air Flow Sensor.....what do you think.....my mechanic seems to believe that I need new fuel injectors.....do you think this is going to be a trial and error problem?
BEFORE CHANGING THE INJECTORS, TRY REMOVING THE HOSE THAT LEADS TO THE THROTTLE BODY AND CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY AND THROTTLE PLATE. USING AN OLD TOOTHBRUSH AND A CAN OF CARB AND CHOKE SPRAY, SCRUB IT, WHILE WIPING OFF THE CARBON WITH A CLEAN CLOTH RAG. THIS SHOULD HELP IT RUN CLEANER AND WITH LESS MISSING. SPRAY A LITTLE CARB AND CHOKE WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND KEEPING IT AT ABOUT 2000 RPM'S. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK
Injector cleaner that goes in the tank is ****. I would take the injectors off and have them cleaned by a profesional for about $30-$40. Or you can do it yourself but it is a task.

thanks for the advice.....I wish it was that cheap because I did call around and the only found one shop that cleans them....they want $125.00....seems to be way to much. I was thinking that maybe I should try and find ones from a newer model at a junkyard. Think that's wise? There are other years that are compatible to the 93.
