Check the fuel shut off solonoid on the pump as these can stick and jam up so when the ignition is switched off the solonoid is still open alowing fuel to still be pumped into the fuel pump

SOURCE: 2009 dodge durango will not start

it could be that the theft system has something to do with it .it proably that the ignition system has a device in the module the locks the system up when the theft system has been activated you should have the dealer check the ignition system or the theft system check.

SOURCE: 1998 Ford F-150 won't start w/ the key, but will w/ remote start.

Always verify that there are no aftermarket devices causing interference, such as alarms, remote starters or other devices utilizing transponders. Devices that power up the PCM without powering up the PATS Control module can experience no-start concerns. It is probbally a key issue depending on the PATS system in that truck you may have to have more than one key coded into the transponder. Try you spare key.

My auto start will start my car but when I turn the key on and press the brake to shift into drive it shuts down. Also will not start with the key. It is a 1994 Honda Accord

Do you have manual transmission? This issue may have something to do with that. Auto starters may signal that the ignition switch is faulty. Check the following link for info regarding this auto switch and how it interacts with the car in the event of an ignition switch use:

When I put the key in the ignition it doesn't try to start everything else comes on then shuts off. I drove it yesterday but now it won't work

The remote starter module is not getting an electrical signal when you turn the key to the on position after remote stating the vehicle. When you depress the brake without turning the key on the vehicle shuts down. The remote module thinks the key is off even when you turn it on. There is a loose connection or the remote start device is defective.

Engine shut off after start with remote key

The car has to be locked down in order for the starter to function properly. Doors must be locked and the hood closed. The hood pin switch often gets corroded and has to be cleaned or replaced.

I just recently purchased a 1996 cadillac el dorado etc. it starts then shuts right off. i dont know if it is something wrong with the anti theft system. maybe the keys. i need to know how to check this. i...

Heres the deal. When you put a remote starter on this year Cadillac (and about 100 other GM models) you have to bypass the security system. On these vehicles, that chip in your key has to communicate with the ignition/lock cylinder and then the TDM (computer) to allow your starter to start and/or allow the injectors to continue working. So what people will do is "bypass" the key and lock cylinder to fake the TDM into believing it has the correct key chip inserted. This allows you to remotely start a vehicle with an antitheft. My guess is that your TDM has now failed. Since the remote starter (which is hooked directly to starter) works and the key doesnt AND we already know that the system has been altered.... I'd put money on the TDM (theft deterrant module). Check out this link. You'll find an answer to your problem for sure. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

remote starter is designed to shut down the vehicle if there is no key to drive with. This is a security feature so that unauthorzed drivers cannot steal it. to answer second question the purpose of remote starters is to allow you to heat up the vehicle so it is an ice cube when you are ready to drive. Not sure what remote I cannot answer the horn question. Need more on what remote starter you have model number and make

Remote starter

Apparently the vehicle was in park enough to get the key out, but not enough to get it to turn to start or allow the remote starter to work. Once it had been jiggled around and put ALL the way into the PARK position, all works well again!

No, its a Auto-Anti-Theft Unit, your best bet would be to buy a $100 kit from auto zone. The Stick unit is built that way because if you start it and walk away, I can use a blank key to unlock the ignition and drive off.
