The timing light connects to the number one spark plug wire. (closest one to you on right side). Than aim light at crankshaft pulley. You will see a tiny arrow next to the crank shaft,
Shine the light with engine running. Point down exactly at arrow. You will see numbers flashing next to arrow on crankshaft. +5 0 -5
You want to arrow to be pointing on 0

Any car that has coil packs and NOT distributor is called distributorless. These cars are self timed by the computer. All the sensors in the car go to the computer. Than the computer adjust timing, fuel release and more.

2002 Intrepid: need to replace the water pump...

In the 2.7L V6, the water pump is driven by the timing chain. I'm pretty sure that in the 3.2/3.5L V6, it's driven by the timing belt. In both cases, it's a lot of work to get to, as you have to remove everything on the top (intake plenum, valve covers) and front (belts, pulleys, idlers, p/s pump, and timing cover) of the engine. Then, after removing and replacing the water pump and timing chain/belt, you have to make sure that the valve timing is exactly right, and reset the chain tensioner on the 2.7L.

A lot of work. Unless you're very comfortable with working on engines, leave it to a professional. You'll save yourself a headache (not to mention some busted knuckles). ;-)

Where is the location of the water pump on a 1996 intrepid 3.5?

You have to take out the electric fans. then take off the belts and then you will have to pull the hurmonic balancer off take the timming cover off then take off the timing belt. the water pump is located inbetween the cams it is bolted on with 3 boltsand looks like a pully. this is for a 1996 dodge intrepid with the 3.5 v-6 hope this helps you

How do you replace timing belt on a 1996 dodge intrepid 3.3L v6 It's making a sqeeling sound and I'm 99.9% positive the noise is coming from that general area.

I will have to researdch this to get you the info; however to confirm it is not the serpintine belt making noise do the following. With the engine running and in park with the brake on (safety first) take a water spray bottle and gentley spray some water on the belt (the water acts as a temporary lubricant) if the noise goes away you found your issue.
I'll check on the other, please let me know if this may have helped,

1996 dodge intrepid runs fine but runs rough some

Replace the inginition wires. buy a good set they run about $70. the engine makes a lot of heat and wires only last a year or two. I replace mine every year seams easiest thing to do.

1995 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.5 v6 cranks but won't start

is there any compression??? If the timing belt is broken, the valves will not be moving. It will be making a higher-pitch cranking sound if its the timing belt.
