Usually a knocking noise means that a rod bearing is worn out. Since your oil pump was replaced, you may have spun a bearing. I would suggest that your engine needs to be replaced.

Oil light comes on & starts knocking. Oil light goes out& stops knocking. Do I need a new oil pump?

The oil pressure is low or zero when the oil light comes on, I would certainly suggest replacing the oil pump before serious damage occurs. Don't even start the vehicle till you have replaced the oil pump.

1990 toyota 4runner knocking noise from air intake will turnover but wont start

Knocking noise in the air intake or do you mean a lifter noise, because you let it sit the lifter are not charged up or solidified,so you dont get adequate compression when you turn it over.if you have fuel and spark thats fine what about compression, noise from the air intake make me wonder if the timing belt is intacted.

Oil pressure light on and knocking noise now

The light comes on when the oil pressure is too low, when the sending unit is bad, and, if you have too much oil in the engine and it whips the oil so much that the oil pump cannot pull the oil in since it is mainly bubbles

The knocking sound comes from a shortage of oil to he bearings, tapping comes from the valve train under the rocker cover (cylinder head).

Make sure you haven't lost any oil & that it isn't overfull and correct that if needed. Beyond what I've mentioned, you would be looking at the oil pump needing to be replaced or major engine repair if the bearings have spun or worn excessively.

good luck

High oil pressure and knocking in the engine

There is a pressure relief valve in the oil pump, it is stuck closed, this happens now and then, seen it 2 times, since the oil pump is a positive displacement pump it can produce 100's of pounds of pressure, the reason for the noise is that u have allot OF pressure but very little volume, the bearings are being starved for lubrication, replace the oil pump, DO NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK, U WILL BURN OUT THE ROD AND CRANK BEARINGS.
