The engine light is flashing on. Also car 'died' all power down briefly at about 20kms

I had this happen to my car after my mechanic said do not worry about oil light flashing intermittantly it is probably a sensor.
Now my car blows oil out the exhaust and is missing a cylinder or two and is hard to start and also lost power at about 20 km/h). I have done a ring or burnt out the rings which means a replacement engine ($3000 AUD) or replacement car is required in my situation. (too repair engine $6000 AUD which a different mechanic has told me they just do not bother repairing as labour is intensive and a reconditioned motor is cheaper)
(1) Check if oil is being blown out the exhaust pipe of your car when engine is cold. When engine is hot smoke with oil smell comes out. (burnt out rings)
(2) Check is Water is coming out the exhaust pipe of your car when engine is cold. When engine is hot steam comes out (blown head gasket possible if steam) (Cost estimate minimum $1500 AUD - depends on if head is warped or cracked)
(3) Check cooling water levels if running low all the time see (2)
(4) check engine has oil in it could be point (1) causing oil loss
(5) check all fan belts are working as designed and not broken

I have a 2006 E150. Started smelling like smoke, then ABS light came on. Opened hood, and saw some electronic module that had burnt plastic, which also melted the overflow hose for radiator. Has about 8...

Notify your Ford dealer of your problem. I'm pretty sure there is a recall for the ABS controller on that truck. It has caused fires in other trucks.

Was driving my Ford F150 down highway, check engine light came on, several mintues later, the truck died. I pulled off to the side of the road. Still have lights, radio, etc, but when turn key, nothing...

May have a wire rubbing somewhere ... check under the truck ... oxygen sensor wires ... if not running or on the exhaust ... see if you don't have wire rubbing on the drive shafts somewhere.

Starts up then dies sometimes idles but sounds like **** smells like gas in the cab real bad it happen when i was going down the road it was running fine then i was going up a hill and gave it a little gas...

Better have it scanned for codes ... could be anything from a bad 02 sensor to a plugged catalytic. Make sure you have a look around for a leaking fuel line as well.

Re-post 1998 buick,century not starting after alot,too much gas?

Sounds like you are flooding the engine with fuel. On the fuel rail you will find a fuel pressure regulator. Try replacing that . It sounds as if the pressure g=regulator isn't working therefore allowing a lot more fuel than it should. Hope this helps you out.

1998 buick, century 3.1 will not start..help plz!!!

first you might possibly have a loose main ground wire, check all grounds under hood... if not that, try the alternator... you should be able to find a rebuilt one for not alot of cash...

Not starting replaced alt, starter, solenoid, and battery is good

It sounds like the wires from the battery to the starter solinoid are burned out, possibly even more of them to the main fuse box under the hood. You will have to start looking for the burned wires you can already smell and replace them. Starter and Battery area are a good place to start.
