U are looking at about 4 hours of labor plus a front end alignment which must be done when the steering is disturbed for any new part, we charge $120 an hour here in Ca.

Here are the parts prices from

A-1 CARDONE Part # 277560 rebuilt power steering box. $120.79

CARDONE SELECT Part # 378231N5 new alternator. $123.79
This are high quality parts I have used personnelly for 20 years.
remember a shop will as much as double these parts prices if they get the parts, these are the lowest prices on the internet and at least 30% below any local parts source you will find.

SOURCE: 1998 sonoma alternator and steering box

The alternator should take about 1 hour. The steering gear about 2.5 hours. The price will depend on your shops labor rate. You can price the parts from any parts house. Good Luck

Why would my 1996 sonoma make a buzzing sound in cab with or without key on with no electrical power

Using hot battery, hook in up, wait 2 or three minutes and then feel of every relay you can find. If one is hot, replace it. If none are, find the buzzer and disconnect it. Use lenght of hose to listen to one end and poke around with the other to locate noise.

1998 sonoma won't start

Your Battery is Corroded or Bad.... Pull your Battery, Clean the Terminals, Charge your Battery and have it tested and if it is bad, replace it. If it is Good, then Clean the Terminals and the Post REALLY GOOD and reinstall and your problem will go away. If your Battery is Good, test your Alternator. Your Battery should have 12.6-12.8 Volts. When it is Running, it should be 13.4-14.6 Volts Depending on your Alternator and Voltage Regulator

I have a 94 sonoma drove it about 20 miles today and turned it off when i went to start it . it would not do anything. the other night my lights dimed a few times but have never done it again.just trying...

First check battery voltage if not 12-12.6 charge or replace battery, then with a fully charged battery start truck take multimeter and check alternator voltage it should be 13-14.5 volts if its anything less replace alternator.HOPE THIS HELPS!!
