Battery and brake lights on

John, According to Nissan forums weak failing alternator is the common problem for bat and brk light on. If you are sure battery and alternator are good, I say check and clean battery connections and all grounds(loosen and re tighten all ground connections to give good contact), check belt for being loose.

John, I think I may have already answered this one.Check and clean battery connections and all grounds(loosen and re tighten all ground connections to give good contact), check belt for being loose. Nissan forums say it is a bad alternator.

My 1995 Nissan Pathfinder overheated and the battery & brake light are now on. How do I remove the thermostat to check if it works?

If the battery and brake lights are on it means the alternator isn't charging the battery. Check to see if the belt to the alternator broke, that belt runs the water pump also.

Check alternator belt. Light is to show alternator working, not battery state.
If you have a volt meter check output is around 12.5 -14.5 volts when car running.

Was driving Hyundai Accent 2002. Suddenly the power steering stopped working, the emergency brake light and battery light came on. Car will now not turn over. Under the hood, some belts seem to be missing....

Your belt broke, either something is wrong with a pulley and caused the belt to brake or the belt was just old and broke on its own. Either way needs a belt put back on then see if anything else is wrong

The battery and break light came on and a belt was broke off

i don't know if that was a question or a statement, if the belt broke off then replace it. it is probably the reason your brake light and your battery light came on. your alternator can't charge the battery with no acc belt and as for the brakes, well i need more info to really answer anything further. i don't even know there is a question involved.

Miss firing

Your fuel injectors need a steady supply of electricity, so when your alternator belt broke, they weren't getting enough juice to run properly, therefore your engine died.
I would make sure that your battery is fully charged, the new belt is properly tensioned ( new belts often 'stretch' and this will undercharge your battery), and that the Alternator is working properly. This can also set a computer 'trouble code' causing the check engine light to come on. Have your mechanic 'clear' the computer codes and if it returns, there is a new (and probably unrelated) problem.
Of course, I would check the obvious first, did a plug wire come loose?, clogged air or fuel filter, need a tune up, etc.
