Starter in a 1992 GMC Sonoma 4.3 v6

Can someone explain to me where the starter is located on my truck, '92 GMC Sonoma. Also, is it held in with 4 screws or bolts? If not, how is it?

I have removed both bolts and it won't come out, it will come part way put but not completely. Is there something special that I need to do to get it to come all the way out?

Bottom rear of engine on the passenger side, the starter is serviced from under the car. it is held to the engine block with two bolts, then u must remove the battery cable and starter solenoid wiring as well, always disconnect the battery before doing any work on the starter.

92 GMC Sonoma 4'3 where are ground straps located in the engine compartment

Grounds are on the radiator core support, fender wells, and engine. Could be at the fire wall also. These are for the electrical harness. 3 main grounds are from the battery(-) to body, battery to engine, close to the starter. And engine to body. What's your problem?

The starter in my 92 sonoma will not come out. after removing the two bolts holding it in place there is not enough clearence for it to come out of its housing

Depending on the motor there will be a sheet metal cover in between the motor and the trans. This is usually held in place by four bolts that thread into the transmission. There is also usually a couple of support braces that run from the engine to two of those bolts, again depending on the motor. Those braces and the sheet metal cover will need to be removed. The starter will then drop out.

How do I get to the heater core in a 92 Sonoma so I can replace it?

Hello there,

The heater core is in the middle of the dashboard, near the floorboards. To get to it, some of the plastic fascia must be removed. The fascia is held in place with screws and wire clips. Remove the screws first, then pop the wire clips. Slide the fascia out, and locate the rectangular heater core housed beneath it.

Best regards...

Started with head gasket problem, tried to flush system..

You more then likely have more then one issue. You can pull the plugs to see if the engine is hydra locked, It sounds like you lost power so check that the battery is still fully charged, check the connections at the battery, engine block, and starter. Sounds like something just got wet or it was a coincidence. I never suggest to anyone, the use of stop leak.

Cold start problem

I should not drop more than 5 psi overnight, if it does it lets the fuel drain back to the tank, this causes long crank times because the pump has to refill the lines and filter before injectors get fuel.
