Just a compressor will be needed to change it but prior to change you will have to **** any freon out that may be in the system unless it has all leaked if you just vent it and get caught is a $50k fine. after replacement you will have to have an hvac repair shop pull a vacumn on it to remove any moisture and oxygen from the system prior to freon going back into the system most shops will do the sucking down and refilling for you and let you change the pump yourself will just have to coordinate with a local repair shop.

SOURCE: Wanting to replace air compressor on 1999 durango.

Air compressors very seldom become defective. However, if you wish to tackle the job make sure the freon is removed from the unit by loosening the high pressure valve. I would suggest you take it to a shop and have it repaired. Purchase what ever you need from the internet. Purchased all the parts to redo my 1966 mercury from Ebay, saved $400 hired expert to do the job for $200. Tools for replacing are expensive you would come out better by having it done. May be a small problem, such as the dryer, or low freon, or a leak Most shops will diagnosis the problem for free or a small charge. Or you could check the unit by adding a leak detector using the low side of the air condition unit. The low side is the lareer of th two lines in the unit.

SOURCE: i need to know how

Assemble the clutch by installing the field coil with a snap ring. Align the clutch field coil with the index pins, then install the clutch spacer to adjust the clutch air cap on the compressor. Install the clutch plate. Place the A/C compressor back into its manifold assembly. Secure the bolts with a socket and ratchet, and place the manifold assembly back into the Integra. Install the serpentine drive belt by following the diagram located on the underside of the Integra's hood. Ensure the belt runs flat and smoothly amongst the pulley system. Pour PAG oil and refrigerant into the A/C unit. Check the A/C system for leaks and test the system. Here you can find quality a/c compressor http://www.1airconditioning.com/our_products.htm

Need to know how much compressor oil to add to anew compressor? lost all paper work

You will add 2oz of oil to compressor then stand it up on the pulley so oil lubes front seal. let it sit for 10 min like that then install, its a good thing to replace the dryer alot of parts places make you replace it inorder to get warranty for compressor. if you replace the dryer then add 1oz inside of that, after you put it togther and line are connected spin compressor by hand 15 times to help get some oil out of compressor and into lines, make sure to vacuum the system for 1/2 hour to get air and moisture out of system. a vacuum pump is needed to do this. good day.

Do i need to replace air compressor on 1994 olds 88 if the A/C doesn't work?

First you need to find out why the A/C is not working. If the system is low the compressor will not come on.The system does this so the compressor does not get ruined.Check fuses for the A/C system and make sure there are no blown fuses. You need to know how the system works in order to be able to figure out what you need to fix or replace. If you don`t know how it works you will start replacing parts that are not needed. This can get very costly and you would have paid less if you took it to a repair shop. You also need special tools. The A/C system is under hi pressures and can be dangerous if you disconnect the lines on a system that is under pressure.Getting freon in your eyes will blind you.Hope this helps.Good luck.

bypassing the compressor is best to do. get a belt for your engine less the ac option. the removal and tear down of any compressor is not easy for a novice

How to remove a ac/compresor

To Remove the AC compressor you first have to have the freon vacumed out before you break the lines. If the freon has already leaked out then you dont have to worry about it. The AC generally has four mounting bolts securing it to the engine loosen those four bolts as well as the two AC lines and the belt. If you are trying to replace the AC compressor yourself you will need to know this is a complex job. Most places will not warranty the compressor unless you also replace the accumilator as well as the orfice tube or expansion valve which ever the case may be.You will also want to flush out the system with AC flush and while you are removing each part be sure to replace the o rings associated with each part. Once you have all the parts back together then you need to have the system vacumed out to remove all the moisture this is crucial other wise you will have prmature failer of your compressor. Once all this has been done then you can charge the system back up. Oh as you remove each part plug the lines to prevent contamination from getting in there. The compressor may or may not come pre oiled so youll need to oil the system back up.

Bad ac compressor

U should replace the receiver drier, also called the accumulator, replace the high side line fixed orifice as well, you will need to drain the old compressor and measure the oil as well and add 6 ounce's to that amount you measured from the old ac compressor. and of course you will need approx four 14 ounce cans of R134

Need to replace the Air Compressor on my 2002 Sant FE. Hyundai Dealer recommended "only" the compressor needed to be replace. Although I am not an expert on air conditioning, this made me skeptical...

Just let the dealer replace the dryer/filter. Its a very cheap part. The only time it needs to be replaced is if there is a mechanical copressor failure. I recomend changing filter/dryer . Also orings on both dryer/filter and compressor. It won't hurt to just replace comressor though and see if this fixes.

COMPRESSOR

Though I've never tried it, If a kit is available to replace the compressor with a pulley, I see no reason why it can't work.

If you go with it, let me know how it turns out...
