Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec - Gears not engaging so no drive power

Had to select escort to get teh question posted but really about a Fiesta

Car drove up to traffic lights OK.
Disengaged gears and clutch.
Went to pull away.
Pressed clutch - felt OK.
Put car in gear - all felt OK.
released clutch but drive did not engage!

Failed clutch or drive shaft ?
Any ideas

If the clutch pedal felt loose, then I would say it was not disengaging. But if not, then I would say the friction disk broke between the outer ring and the hub.

MAKE SURE YOU IN STALLED IT RIGHT ON THE MARKS ON ALL THE GEARS AND SPROCKETS FIRST.
THEN THE TIMING SHOULD BE RIGHT

Timing marks on 96 ford escort zetec

remove the rocker cover and the timing marks are on the back of the cams ,on the end are two slots one on each cam ,use a flat piece of metal to lock into place with teh valves on NO1 cyl pointing upwards and outwards and no1 cylinder at the TDC find this by using a screwdriver down the plug hole ,right er indoors waiting to go to market if in any doubt please post a reply and i will answer it later today.best of british with it

I have solved the roblem, i need a part number for the vaccum hoses i need to replace, there are three in front of the transverse engine coupled together make a T shape just below where the plugs are...

Instead of buying preformed lines from the dealer, just measure the total length of all the hoses you need to replace and go down to your local auto parts store and buy it by the foot for less than $1 a foot. You can also get connectors. Chances are that you can probably be up and running for about $10. Take a piece of the old line with you to get the right size. Hope this helps.
