Question about 2000 Ford Escort
Had to select escort to get teh question posted but really about a Fiesta
Car drove up to traffic lights OK.
Disengaged gears and clutch.
Went to pull away.
Pressed clutch - felt OK.
Put car in gear - all felt OK.
released clutch but drive did not engage!
Failed clutch or drive shaft ?
How easy it it to fit a new clutch cable on ford fiesta 2003, had a new clutch fitted but gears are floppy

If the clutch pedal felt loose, then I would say it was not disengaging. But if not, then I would say the friction disk broke between the outer ring and the hub.

Sounds like your clutch cable is caught. Try new cable.
