High piched hum coming from the engine...perhaps power steering belt or pump?

Switch out the belt if you allready done that make sure there is only half inch of play in the belt if that dont work grab some wd -40 spray the tensioner pully on the car if it quiets the car replace the tensioner pully make sure resavoir is full on pump too those are the quick and easy ones if that dont work then switch out the pump its two hose and 2 to 3 bolts make sure you bleed the lines too if theres air in the lines it will scwill

Where is the power steering pump located?


ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)
The TSX uses Electric Power Steering (EPS) which regulates steering via a computer-actuated electric motor. With the computer-controlled system, advanced algorithms built into the operating software allow for continuous fine-tuning of the steering assist forces so that minimal force is required at low speeds- such as when parking or maneuvering. Conversely, progressively higher steering effort is generated at higher speeds (such as when driving on the freeway) to deliver a sport-minded driving experience.
The EPS system found in the TSX is an evolution of an earlier EPS system found on the Acura NSX supercar. Its key features and advantages include:
  • The EPS system reduces the steering effort at low speeds, improving agility and ease of effort when parking or maneuvering in tight areas
  • Rigidity of the steering mount is higher, which allows a more precise and "connected" feel during high-speed maneuvers (such as during lane changes or when on winding mountain roads)
  • The EPS steering assist incorporates computer algorithms based on vehicle speed rather than engine speed, allowing TSX engineers the flexibility of tailoring the steering feel to match actual driving conditions- especially high-speed driving. The EPS steering algorithms incorporate steering assist changes for every 0.6 mph.
  • The EPS system is different (and uniquely tuned) for each of the TSX models: 2.4L I-4 sedan, 3.5L V-6 sedan, and the new Sport Wagon.
  • EPS employs a sporty, 13.5:1 steering ratio which further improves performance driving agility
  • In its evolution from the original NSX system, the TSX's EPS system uses a significantly more powerful electric motor teamed with a far more sophisticated microprocessor
  • By eliminating the conventional power steering pump assembly, EPS uses less engine power which improves acceleration and fuel efficiency

How come it smoke smell like rages burning


Often times your engine , once overheated, will take time to return to normal....the high temps of your engine,will cause burnt odors due to old oil residues, anti freeze overflow etc..sometimes a simple engine cleansing will help to eliminate these odors..take care not to spill any liquids such as oil, antifreeze, power steering , brake or transmission fluids onto your engine....good luck

The belt in my 01 Dodge Dakota squeals badly. Started when I had my power steering pump replaced. I tried changing the belt and the tensioner, but still squeals. Is it possible the pulley on the power...


excess mechanical drag from the pump can cause the belt to slip and squeal, but before focusing on the pump I'd check the condition, tension and alignment of the belt. I might even try cleaning all the pulleys with an aerosol brake cleaner and install a new belt, particularly if the current one has more than 50,000 miles on it. It might be that the squeal is coming from or caused by a different belt-driven accessory.
A more typical noise from a power-steering pump is a high-pitched whine, not a squeal. Usually, if the steering wheel is stationary, meaning that the steering rack is not "asking" for assistance from the high-pressure fluid from the pump, there's little or no noise

How do you remove the Power Steering Pump and bracket. I have taken off several bolts but it still is not letting loose. Help


3.0L (VIN 3) Engine

Power steering pump mounting detail (3.0L engine)

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. The belt does not have to be removed from the engine.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Disconnect the wiring harness connector to the oxygen sensor which is accessible through the oxygen sensor wiring harness grommet in the vehicle floor pan.
  5. Remove the catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold and remove all exhaust system hangers and isolators from the exhaust system brackets. Move exhaust system out of the way as far rearward and to the left as possible to provide access to the power steering pump.
  6. Place a drain pan under the power steering pump. Remove the power steering fluid return line hose on the front suspension cradle. Allow the fluid to drain from the pump and hose.
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt splash shield.
  8. Disconnect the power steering remote reservoir supply hose from the fitting on the power steering pump. Allow fluid to drain from the hose.
  9. Remove power steering fluid pressure line from the power steering pump and drain any excess power steering fluid.
  10. Remove the power steering fluid return hose from the power steering pump.
  11. Remove the rear support bracket mounted behind the power steering pump to the engine block.
  12. Remove the 2 mounting bolts that secure the pump to the alternator/power steering pump and belt tensioner mounting bracket.
  13. Remove the power steering pump and pulley assembly out from the vehicle. Transfer all required parts from the pump to the new replacement pump before installation.
To install:
  1. Position the front of the power steering pump up onto the mounting bracket. Torque the 2 power steering pump-to-mounting bracket bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  2. Install the rear power steering pump-to-engine block support bracket. Torque the 2 support bracket mounting bolts to 40ft. lbs. (54 Nm). Install the nut to the mounting stud behind the pump and torque to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  3. Install the high pressure fluid line to the pump output fitting. Torque the high pressure line-to-power steering pump fitting to 275 inch lbs. (31 Nm). Be sure to inspect the pressure line O-ring for any damage before connecting the pressure line to the steering pump.
  4. Install the low pressure power steering fluid hose to the power steering pump low pressure fitting. Be sure the hose clamps are properly reinstalled and hoses are clear of the accessory drive belts.
  5. Install the accessory drive belt.
  6. Install the hose on the power steering fluid return line on the front suspension cradle. Be sure the hose clamps and heat shield tubes are correctly reinstalled.
  7. Reconnect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. Install the hangers and isolators onto the exhaust system brackets. torque the nuts and bolts to 250 inch lbs. (28 Nm).
  8. Reconnect the wiring harness connectors to the oxygen sensor. Install the wiring harness grommet into the vehicle floor pan.
  9. Install the accessory drive belt splash shield.
  10. Remove the drain pan and lower the vehicle.
  11. Refill the power steering pump reservoir with the correct amount of clean power steering fluid.
  12. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Bleed the power steering system.
  13. Run the engine and check the system for leaks and proper steering operation.

3.3L (VIN R) & 3.8L (VIN L) Engines

I have a 2003 chevy blazerthat has power steering problem no leak


There is a "pressure regulator" located in the pump just behind the high pressure line that directs high pressure fluid to the steering rack when you turn the steering wheel. It sounds like the regulator valve is sticking and not sending the high pressure fluid to the steering rack when you turn the wheel.
You can remove the pump and clean the valve, reinstall the pump and flush the steering system with fresh fluid or replace the pump and flush the system with new fluid.

I have a high pitched noise which appears to be coming from front right engine compartment (as you are looking at the engine) which sounds kind of like a belt that is squealing. It is intermittent. Just...


Could be several things. WHICH ENGINE?.. 4 cylinder (has three belts, power steering/water pump, alternator & A/C compressor, one tensioner pully A/C compressor), The V6 2.7 (has only one belt, 1 Idler pully and 1 tensioner pully), the V6 3.5 has two belts - A/C/alternator, and power steering - there are two tensioner pullys). Noises can be caused by the belt(s) themselves, pullys, bearings, pully bearings, water pump shaft bearings (or belts/pullys rubbing up against something). Let's not forget that there is also belt(s) behind the Timing Belt cover as well as pullys and bearings associated with the timing system. You could start by removing one accy drive belt at a time (alternator, water pump, compressor, power steering, etc) to see whether or not the noise goes away in each case. If after each case, you discover the noise is still there, it's probably behind the timing belt cover (idler/tensioner pully, water pump shaft bearing, crankshaft bearing, etc.). Good Luck
