Tensioner of the Silent sprocket, for the camshaft is defunct. (1.8Liter engine) (This Silent sprocket has a built in tensioner)

The 2.0L engine has dual overhead camshafts. It has a tensioner pulley, that puts tension on the timing belt. If you can physically see
the tensioner pulley, (and bracket), you have the timing cover removed. If the tensioner is applying the correct amount of pressure, and the crank is turning, while the camshaft gears are not, your timing belt has the teeth stripped off. (Hopefully the teeth on the gears are okay!)

Hi there you say that the cam belt turn's but the cam's are not, have you checked to see of the belt is moving?

the choices are:
the belt has lost its teeth. (Belt not moving)
the cam pulleys are slipping. (Belt moves)
the cam has snapped. (Belt moves but would expect noise)

in any case you have much work to do on your motor.

Regards JR

The pistons may be shot. If not this then the head geasket may have gone.

Starter will crank but the van won't start

run fault codes and check for cam/ crank position sensor problem. Check that the cam shaft is turning (broken timing belt/chain). Check that the immobiliser is working as a disconnected battery ( starter replacement) will corrupt the CPU including the alarm systems . Use a code reader to reset the CPU.

Yesterday i changed my passenger side mirror connected the wires and while i was driving it was good when i cut car off it wont start now ,but all the lights and everything works but it wont crank?

First you need to find out if the car will start when jump started or battery charger assisted. If it does, it is probably either the battery or alternator. You can have them both checked for free at most autoparts stores.

If it doesn't start, then you have to figure out if it is the starter or something in the engine froze up. If you take the serpentine belt off and can turn the main crank shaft with a large wrench then the engine is free and your starter is the problem. If it won't turn you have internal engine problems.

Car died the other day, and now it wont start. Everything such as dash and radio seem to be working fine.

hi there the things to check are do you have a spark at the plugs?
do you have compression ?
are the cam shafts turning?
is the cam belt intact?
this are all needed to make the engine run it will turn over great but not start with this things not working infact if the last 3 are not there it will sound diffrent when you are turning it over with the key.

hope this helps Regards JR
