Question about 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

1 Answer

Battery If doors & hatch are open for a period of time or if van sits w/o being driven the battery runs out. Chrysler says that the car should be driven once a week because it has "so much on it" (whatever that means - GPS, power doors & hatch, etc?) that battery runs out. Doesnt sound right does it?

Battery was tested just over a year ago and said it was fine. Warranty expires next week so will take it in to be tested again.

a battery test a year ago is the same as no test at all, get the battery tested again.

If a battery is left to sit in your car there is always a constant small power drain and a short drive very seldom will not maintain a proper charge so it does need to be run more often

im not saying the battery is bad but it has to run alot of stuff with a small charge time so it will be drained if not driven more

At the base of the door there should be a pop out panel about the site of a deck of cards. In there will be a manual release.

Where is the door switch at

The back hatch lever that you use to open the door, open the back hatch and hold the lever up. You'll see a yellow thing, sorry not sure the name of it. You need to spray this really well with WD40, its a liquid level that gets dirty from dirt kicking up from dumper. I had taken my van many many times as light stayed on forever, Ford could never fix it. After spraying the heck out of it, close the door and let it sit, it should drop and inside light should go off. It's not the slider. Good Luck.

Automatic side door will no longer open with remote or console button in car. Also, both side door's locks will not pop up using all of our 3 remotes (1 door is automatic, 1 is manual). Lastly, the back...

Did these doors quit at the same time or over a period. It seems that the actuators for the locks have gone bad. With the mentioned doors, that's a lot weight for the actuators to unlock and pop open. With the remotes and console not working , that's more reason to think the actuators are the problem.

Remove the panel on inside of hatch door and that should give you access to the internals of the hatch.

No Lights - Home Link and Door Buttons - Center Ceiling Console

I've never heard of anyone fix the LED lights. When they go, there gone. Just replace the overhead console. It's eazy to replace the console. Th console just pops down. No special clips. Call the salvage yards for one around $35..Get the warranty from the salvage yard Do Not Buy AS IS. Make sure to remove the negitive battery cable before removing. the console. Eveything unplugs eazy from the console

I have a van and wont start

If it is an aftermarket alarm try this. Disconnect the battery. Put the ignition to run, reconnect the battery, and it should start. After it is running, finding the valet switch. Usually a small black button on the driver side panels. Push it and the alarm should sit in valet.

My back hatch door doen't want to open

You need to climb in the back and remove the plastic panel from the hatch to access the lock. There may be a small access door over the locking mechanism to help you avoid removing the whole thing. Could be dirty and sticky and fixable with a bit of graphite lube.
