The cable and the plastic lever housing are readily available at your dealer and are cheap. To replace the cable, disconnect from plastic lever on left drivers side of front seat. then follow cable until you reach where it goes through the fire wall. Work cable thru just to the outer side of firewall. Then take the hood latch end of the NEW cable and run it thru the firewall like you did with the old cable. Now find the two ends of cable under the hood and securely tape them together side by side. Next you disconnect the old cable from the hood latch and GINGERLY pull it thru the engine compartment , thru an opening in your radiator supports. This is an old trick when rewiring a house or boat trailer. Then connect both ends of the cable. Make sure you grease the hood latch with WD 40. This will ensure that the hood will "pop up" when you pull the lever. This job took all of 40 minutes.. while I'm not a Mechanic, I am a Machinist. If the dealer charges 1 1/2 hrs labor then I'm in the wrong trade!

YOU CAN FIX IT EASILY AT HOME IF IT IS JUST THE HANDLE. THE CABLE WOULD REQUIRE ABOUT 1-1.5 HOURS LABOR TO REPLACE SO DONT PAY MORE THAN THAT.

My hood will not close on a 94 Chevy suburban

I have had a similar problem with a 2000 Jeep Cherokee classic. It turned out that the cable linking the hood latch to the hood release lever froze up and just needed replacement. My hood release lever on the inside of my Jeep felt loose when I tried pulling it. If your hood release lever feels loose it may be a frozen cable. Hope this helps.

94 chevy lumina apv door will not open most of the time

since it is the drivers front door it could be the outside door handle , the rod that goes from the handle to the lock asbly or the lock asbly its self take the door trim panel off and then loos inside the door and latch the door with the door open. open the door with the outside door handle and watch the rod and the lever that the rod is pushing down the lever might not be pushing the lever down far enough to release the lock. If the lock does not open try pushing down on the lever and see if the lock releases if it does ck the outside door handle for cracks along the hinges of the handle I have found that most of the time that it is the outside door handle cracked and the rod is not moving the lever far enough to release the lock.

Hood will not open due to the release lever on the inside on a 1993 dodge caravan tried pulling the cable but it still will not release the hood

Problem could be the other end of cable came loose from hood release latch under hood. You need to look through the grill closely and see if it did. I have had a few dodge caravans that this has happend to.

How do i open my 1990 chevy lumina hood from outside the car?

You have to engage the "hood release" from inside the car...
(lower left, under the dash, on side panel.)

The hood must "pop" up enough for you to reach under the hood at the center front. There is a lever an inch to the right of the center of the front of the hood. Swing that lever up and to the left about 2 inches.
The hood will pop open.

As you lift the hood, notice the horizontal metal rod that holds the hood up. While holding the hood open with one hand, lift the metal rod and insert it into the slot (hole) on the hood, beign careful that it is the correct slot on the hood.

Note: If the hood does not pop up when you engage the inside latch, then push down on the hood (it may be stuck) .... don't push down gently... give it a good push and release.
It will pop up.

I know that you knew some of this, but the detail may help others.
Hope this explains it for you.
