Ac makes whining noise on a 2004 Pontiac grand prix

Is the whining noise coming from the engine compartment where the compressor is located or is the noise coming from inside the car? If the noise if coming from inside the car it could be your blower. When a blower wears down the bushing is the first thing to wear down and it begins to have play. That makes the blower/fan vibrate making a loud whining noise. Replacing the blower could solve that whining noise.
If the noise if coming from the AC compressor, it also could be a bad bearing within the compressor.

A/C compressor noise

It could be the compressor or maybe the clutch has gone bad. to pinpoint the noise take off belt that goes to the compressor and then run the car and see if the noise is gone. If it is then you need to look at the compressor. If you have a gage you can check if there is any Freon left in the system. If it is before you replace the compressor you will need to take to shop to have it removed it is unlawful to let the Freon into the air.

NEW AC COMPRESSOR MAKING NOISE

Did you add the correct amount of oil to the compressor? Is it overcharged? Did you evacuate all the air with a vacuum pump before charging? Was the fixed orifice replaced? If you are sure you did the install right and the oil and charge are correct you have another defective compressor

Compressor make noise and air is not cold

HI,
If compressor make noise that means it's working, so low noise on compressor it is normal,
but just check when you turn a/c on, the hub...(kind of plate covers the compressor pulley)... starts runing, you might need refill freon but if compressor hub it is not woring, begin to check for electronic things such as fuses related with a/c

When I turn on the air conditioner sometimes it makes a chattering noise and continues to make the noise and other times no noise.

Sounds like a problem related to the a/c compressor clutch, or that the freon level is too low, and it is starting to damage the internals of the compressor. If when it works with no noise, it is not cooling the cabin, then the compressor is definitely shot. i have seen in a few instances that taking apart the compressor, cleaning it, and replacing the oil, it reduces or stops the clattering.

Howl or whine noise inside after the a/c compressor lines replace

Be sure that oil was added when the new compressor and line were put in. It sounds as if the compressor is the one making noise. Is it a new compressor?

It sounds like the bearing in the compressor or the clutch in the compressor either way changing the compressor should fix your problem.

Very bad noise from frontof air compressor

You probably have bad bearings in the A/C clutch pulley. Remove the drive belt and spin the pulley for noise and shake it around for play. Any noise or play and you need a new clutch. Also see if the front hub on the compressor turns easy. If not, then the noise could be the compressor locking up. Reman compressor might be the least expensive route.
