How to remove a broken lug stud from a 98 Ford Escort?

I broke off a lug stud after changing my strutts. I can't seem to get the stud to come out so I can replace it. Is there a special way to remove the stud? It won't come willing out of it's spot.

Most studs are pressed in. Big hammer and punch and knock it out. If it doesn't move, get a bigger hammer.

How do I replace a broken lug nut out of 98 windstar?

you don`t say if its front or rear lug nut(assuming you mean stud).remove the wheel and then the drum or rotor, then take a hammer and hit the broken stud to remove it from the hub assembly.with the correct wheel stud insert it through the hole and make sure its in straight, install the wheel nut and tighten the nut to pull the stud into the hub until all the way in.you may have to install washer on the stud and re-install the nut and tighten until the stud is seated all the way.

I broke my lugs and studs on my 2002 ford excursion on the rear wheel

they are pressed in so you will have to get a punch and a hammer to beat them out. The new ones will have to be pressed in or beat in with a hammer. be careful not to get them in crooked.

knock it out... use an old nut that will fit the new stud and install the stud. the nut will pull the stud in tight to the flange.

Broken stud on left front wheel

Remove: wheel, brake caliper & rotor. Drive out the remaining stub with a hammer and punch. Insert a new stud and pull it into place by tightening the lug nut. Before running out of threads, remove the nut, insert a stack of washers or a large nut which slips over the threads without contacting them, tighten the lug nut to seat the stud.

89 4x4 pu broken wheel stud

Half right...pound out, use a stack of washers and put nut on backwards and draw stud in. Oil on washers and stud threads helps.

Broken lug bolt

Easy. Take wheel and tire off, and remove the brake drum, if it has drum brakes. With a hammer, hit the broken stud until it pops out. Slide the new stud into the hole, and, using some thick washers, screw the lugnut onto the new stud, over the washers. Tighten it until the stud is pulled all of the way in. Easier done with an air wrench, however.

Studs broke on 97 ford escort

I dont think you have to remove the nut that just frees the cv axle. The rotor is probably rusted on give it a few good hits with a hammer on the front where studs are do not hit brake surface it should free up

Wheel studs

normally you can take off the spindel but if you remove brake disk and back plate you should be able to punch out the studs with no problem and than push new one in and press it in by tapping it with hammer on the back and than putting some washers over it and than tightening the lug nuts.
Or if you are comfortable with it remove the whole spindel section and put it on a work bench
