Question about 1998 Cadillac Catera
The remote dose not work and I can't open the doors manually with the keys from the outside. twice I had to call the tow truck can you help me.
Try spraying some WD40 or similar lubricant into the lock cylinder from the outside with the small straw that comes with the can. If you live in an area that uses salt or has corrosion issues, and you always use the key fob to unlock the vehicle, it's quite possible that the cylinder is frozen up with a little rust from lack of use. I have used this fix on many vehicles and as preventative maintenance on my own stuff due to similar experiences. If that doesn't work, check into any maintenance history that may have allowed a different key cut cylinder to be put in (I would see this are a rare case, but is possible).

Yep that is most likely the problem. If it worked when you dropped it off and not when you picked it up, they screwed it up. I would bet that where they picked up the power for the DVD player they created a short. If they accidentally eliminated the power feed to the tailgate lock the circuit is not complete.

You can use a wood wedge to pry the top of the driver or passenger door open 1/2 to 1 inch. Then use a stiff rod to reach in the opening and push the lock button open. I used this method to get my keys locked inside my EXT with no damage. Just be careful not to damage the paint.

SOURCE: 2006 STS drivers door won't
something came off inside your door, remove the panel and look for a plastic rod connector either off or broken. If it is off go get a new one their very cheap.
The other thing is the door lock actuator could be bad,you will know when you get inside, work the all the electric do dads and watch the motor react.

There is a fuse box under the right rear seat cushion behind the driver. In that box is a 10 amp mini fuse marked "TRUNK DR RELEASE". That is the fuse that powers your remote receiver. If that fuse is good, the receiver may have failed. To remove the seat cushion, pull the front of the cushion up and then forward.
