Oil light comes on

My oil light comes on and dings when i stop, then goes off when I go again. I checked the oil level a few times when it did this, but it has always been at the correct level. It was overdue for an oil change so I thought maybe the filter was just too dirty and throwing the sensors off when I stopped. I had the oil changed, but it is still doing the same thing. Any ideas?

This is an oil pressure light, most likely the sending unit for the gauge is defective, but I do recommened a shop hook up a oil press test gauge and verify u do't really have low oil pressure, then if that tests ok replace the sending unit on the engine.

You should check the oil pressure with an external gauge. If the oil pressure is dropping below 10-15 psi it will cause this kind of problem and your engine will need to be repaired.

My low oil pressure light is coming on

firstly check your oil level. if your oil level is within spec you would need a oil pressure gauge and attach it to the engine and watch the oil pressure while engine is idling. if oil level is good on your pressure gauge you may have a faulty sensor or faulty instrument cluster. in addition check the connector wiring on the oil pressure sender, gm vehicles are not known for have well made electrical connectors or connector pins.

Oil light comes on and is dinging.

The oil light has nothing to do will oil level, but rather oil PRESSURE. If the engine oil is full and there is no rattling or banging noises in the engine, chances are the oil pressure sending unit is bad. If noises accompany the light, then shut down the engine and troubleshooting the engines internal lubrication system.

2004 Chrysler Pacifica oil light on and dinging

This is the pressure light I think. Have that looked into RIGHT AWAY before you burn out the bearings in the engine.

My check engine light comes on intermittently and when i stop the oil light comes on and dings I am told this could be an oil pump - how hard is this to fix on my vehicle - Dodge Grand Caravan 2000 3.8L V6

yes this is true it could be a oil pump but first check the oil level first. most oil pumps are inside the oil pan. and most pans can only be taking off by lifting motor up or the exagust off

Idiot oil light is ringing its bell non stop.... driving me crazy

The oil light is an indicator of oil pressure, not oil level. If it is chiming all the time now, it means that your engine likely has an oiling issue, such as a failing oil pump.

Get the vehicle checked out immediately before you cause irreversible damage that requires a replacement engine or an entirely new car.

Oil light keeps coming on and dinging

Your oil sensor may be faulty, or your may have a leak since you said the fluid level is okay.

Oil light comes on and dings all day

If engine is not ticking or knocking while running, likely the pressure sender is faulty. If changing it makes no difference, have actual pressure checked with a mechanical gauge.

My 1999 pontiac grand am will idle low, but does not cut off.

Sounds like your oil pressure sensor may be faulty. Or your oil level is very low. Your engine should idle as low as 650 rpm without your light coming on.
