How to replace the timing belt on a 1988 Buick Lesabre 3800 engine.

It has a Timing chain an gears, not a belt > an you would need to pull the front part of the motor apart , serpentine belt ,alternator possibly , harmonic balancer , timing cover , plus drain the cooling system first . If your have no done this before I suggest you take it to a professional , These are know for the cam gear wearing the teeth off , the metal gets all inside the engine - bearings an everything ! I had one I did an after getting it running , found out it bent a valve . The lady was driving it at a good speed an it stopped running , left on the side of the road . She had it towed to the shop , an she couldn't me if she heard any strange noises when it happened . Her's was an 80's Oldsmobile with the same engine ,thinking about it now I should have told her it wasn't worth the money to do it .

Automatic seat belt on drivers side will not move. belt drive motor will not turn off. where can I disable the drive motor?

we just discussed this one. You need to tape one of the limit switches closed. Also, remove small plastic cover on rear trim panel to expose thumbwheel for emergency use.

Engine stalled at about 30 miles hour now i have been told by garage it broke timing belt

If you really did break a timing belt while driving at 30 MPH, you would have also heard a lot of bad noises coming from the engine and are looking at a large repair bill to repair engine damage.

Engine sound when speeding up

the problem you are describing sounds like you have a loose rod bearing which is common on a engine with that many miles on it and under excelleration yes!! it will knock with it knocking to that degree for any lenght of time! putting new bearing in won;t fix it!! cause damage to the cracnshaft has already arose you will need to pull the motor and change the crank and bearings or replace the motor

Seat belts receivers are taped over

First step is to remove the tape, no way to know the process of a mad man better then to dive into his world. Just make sure no one is sitting in them when you try to connect the male to the female end, perhaps they got stuck which could be a reason they were taped over. Start with that and report back.

I have a 1989 chevy cavalier z24 2.8 6 cyl. Hard to start

a serpentine belt will not cause any such problems and the shop that told you the motor was bad probably can't figure out the problem and figured aww what the heck just replace the whole motor at your expense.... an even easier way to check the motor is with a compression tester you can rent from an auto parts store they cost about $50-$100 us to purchase new if you can't rent one I suggest getting a repair manual at that auto parts store as well @$30 take a couple of hours to read through I am not to familiar with that particular model but I wanna say there is an air temp sensor located on the air intake line or the intake manifold itself prob. a $12 sensor if you feel like taking a shot in the dark
